SCS Sketch #SC1037

I find that having a sketch to use can get my creative ideas flowing, so I love being part of the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge team. There is a new sketch to work with every Wednesday. I encourage you to check them out.

Here's this week's sketch - SC1037:

My card:

Obviously I flipped the sketch for my card design, but that's okay. It's always acceptable to tweak the sketch a wee bit and make it your own (there are no SCS police), so that's what I did.

I hope you'll use the sketch to make a card, too.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

CAS 820 Valor

Each Monday there is a new CAS Challenge on SCS. I hosted this week's CAS Challenge and since it fell on Veterans Day, I chose a theme that could connect with that - or not. Each crafter gets to interpret the theme how he/she sees fit.

This week's theme...

Valor

Valor is defined as bravery; boldness or determination in facing danger, especially in battle.

Here's my card:

I hope you'll check out the challenge - HERE - and play along, too.

Double Duty 2024 - Gina K

In January of 2021, my stamping comrades Barb and Kelly and I debuted a new series/challenge. Double Duty was Barb's idea... and it is a GREAT idea! I've had so much fun with this series. Thanks for inviting me to play along, Barb!

This is Barb's description of the Double Duty concept...

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  Post both cards on your blog on the same day—the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  Have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

Over the past year, things have changed a bit in who's participating, but not in the instructions. This year's Double Duty crafters are Barb, Carol, Darlene, and me.

This month's company is Gina K.

Card #1

Card #2

The thing/s that are the same on both cards (as per the challenge specifications) are: the sketch/design, the embellishments, and the dies.

Let's check out the other Double Duty cards, too...

From a Kit Series (PP) - September 2024

I started a new series on my blog in July of 2021. The idea was born from the fact that I have a lot of unused card/stamping kits just waiting to have some attention. Sheesh! Seems as though I buy them and they just sit. That just shouldn't be so I'm going to commit to using a kit once a month for this "From a Kit" series.

As I mentioned in my May 2023 blog posts, the only "kits" I have left (after completing the first 21) are SEVERAL Stampin' UP! Paper Pumpkin kits. I also mentioned that I've discovered I'm not really very fond of the card designs found in the Paper Pumpkin kits... so I decided IF I'm going to use those Paper Pumpkin kits that I've invested in, I'll need to veer away from the designs as they appear in the kits.

This month I made 3 cards using the July 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit - On My Mind.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

In addition to the Paper Pumpkin kit I used the following items...

CS - Accent Opaque 120# White, Amazon 120# Black, MFT Prickly Pear, and SU Calypso Coral CS

Dies -Gina K Master Layout 1, Honey Bee Sweet Stack Rectangles, and MFT Stitched Rectangles

Ink - Hero Arts Intense Black

Have a CORNY Halloween!

Kelly, Barb, and I have been creating together as the Three Musketeers every month since November 2014. We all three create a card using the same image. I always enjoy seeing how different our cards are, even though we use the same image. This is one of my favorite posts of the month.

We take turns choosing what stamp will be used. This month it was Barb's turn. She chose the cutest Halloween cat - Newton's Nook Candy Corn. She included three sentiments, too.

Thank you, Barb!

Be sure to check out Barb's and Kelly's cards, too...

Circle of Friends - Watermelon

About a month ago I was asked to join a swap group on Facebook. I don't normally do these sorts of things, but since the invite came to me personally from the group organizer, I decided to accept. The group is called Circle of Friends. Various swaps are listed periodically (Cards, ATC, Dex cards, and Tags) and participants choose which ones they want to join.

There were two card swaps listed for this month. I joined both of them and I'm sharing one of the cards today. (I'll share the second card later this month.)

Theme: Watermelon

I used the adorable Pink & Main Summer Sloths stamp/die set to make my card. This is one of the great items donated for the Swag Bag I received at Barb's No Foolin' retreat in April. THANK YOU, Pink & Main!

I hope my swap partner likes my card.

ONcE More in '24 - July

The 3rd of each month is a special day here on my blog - it's the day that Kelly (the founder of this series), Barb, and I share our One Plus Twelve cards. The idea is to use the same ONE stamp (not a set) each month to create a card. Sentiments can be used, too, if we choose.

My ONE stamp this year is a beautiful floral (a very large one) from the Altenew Pristine Peonies stamp set.

This month, instead of coloring the image, I colored the negative area around the image with a single Olo marker.

I used this week's SCS Sketch for my card, too - SC1017.

I hope you'll keep an eye out on the 3rd of each month to see how I do with this ONE stamp this year. You'll also be able to see Barb's and Kelly's cards on Instagram as well as their blogs...
