Catch Up Club - October 2024

In a text conversation amongst friends in the fall of 2022, we agreed that we were all falling behind in creating with items from virtual events, kits, even groups we are in. From that conversation the idea of the Catch Up Club took formation. We decided it was time to work on those cardmaking projects that were waiting for our attention.

On the last day of each month we've committed to sharing card/cards we have made from something we need to "catch up" on.

You can view my original Catch Up Club post - HERE - for more details.

For this month's Catch Up Club post, I chose to complete the cards from the remaining classes of the Taylored Expressions 2022 Virtual Stamp Joy event that took place on March 12th of that  year.

Session 3

Session 4

Session 7

It should be noted that while most cards posted on my blog are my own designs (albeit sometimes inspired by others), these Catch Up Club cards are not my designs. I've completed cards designed by the class instructor, so while I've made the card, it is not original to me.

Please check out the blogs of my Catch Up Club friends, too...

TJ - Ornaments Aglow

I'm so excited about today's Christmas card. I used the Doodle Ornaments background stamp from the most recent release at Technique Junkies - check it out HERE. This truly is one of my favorite stamps in this release.

I used two panels of the image, one in its entirety which I blended yellow ink into the center. The other one I colored three of the ornaments and then fussy cut them. I used foam dots to raise the colored ornaments up off of the other panel.

If you like saving money - and who doesn't - please use the code TJ10JEANETTE when checking out at Technique Junkies to receive a 10% discount.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

In addition to the Technique Junkies stamps listed in this blog post, I also used the following items when making these cards.

Inks (for ink blending): Taylored Expressions Mango

Papers: Recollections White and Amazon 120# Black CS

Dies: Honey Bee Sweet Stack Rectangles

Embellishments: Amazon Nail Art Rhinestones

CYS Stencils

One of my favorite challenge groups is the Challenge Your Stash group on SCS, under the capable and organized leadership of my friend Barb. The idea is we can't shop for anything when making our monthly challenge card (which we post on the 28th of each month). I'm a day early this month as I have another commitment on my blog tomorrow.

We take turns choosing the theme. This month it was Tracie's turn. She challenged us to use a stencil or more than one on our cards. I used only one - the AALL & Create Lotza Diamondz stencil.

Here's the inside:

I hope Tracie, Barb and the other Challenge Your Stash gals like my card.

From a Kit Series (PP) - October 2024

I started a new series on my blog in July of 2021. The idea was born from the fact that I have a lot of unused card/stamping kits just waiting to have some attention. Sheesh! Seems as though I buy them and they just sit. That just shouldn't be so I'm going to commit to using a kit once a month for this "From a Kit" series.

As I mentioned in my May 2023 blog posts, the only "kits" I have left (after completing the first 21) are SEVERAL Stampin' UP! Paper Pumpkin kits. I also mentioned that I've discovered I'm not really very fond of the card designs found in the Paper Pumpkin kits... so I decided IF I'm going to use those Paper Pumpkin kits that I've invested in, I'll need to veer away from the designs as they appear in the kits.

This month I made 3 cards using the November 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit - Wonderful Winterland.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

In addition to the Paper Pumpkin kit I used the following items...

Papers - Accent Opaque 120# White and SU Pool Party CS and DP from my scrap file

Dies - MFT Stitched Rectangles

Ink - Pinkfresh Studio Detail Black

Double Duty 2024 - Pinkfresh Studio

In January of 2021, my stamping comrades Barb and Kelly and I debuted a new series/challenge. Double Duty was Barb's idea... and it is a GREAT idea! I've had so much fun with this series. Thanks for inviting me to play along, Barb!

This is Barb's description of the Double Duty concept...

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  Post both cards on your blog on the same day—the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  Have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

Over the past year, things have changed a bit in who's participating, but not in the instructions. This year's Double Duty crafters are Barb, Carol, Darlene, and me.

This month's company is Pinkfresh Studio.

White, White, and More White

Splitcoaststampers Falliday Fest is almost over; just a couple more days. It has been so much fun! From making cards, to admiring the cards others have made and leaving some comments, to even hosting one of the challenges myself.

My theme was White, White, and More White

Participants could use a color other than white for their sentiments, but other than that, their cards were supposed to be entirely white. I have been in awe of the talent I've seen. Snowy beauties, to pure elegance and so much more.

I think the theme fits well with 3D embossing folders so that's the direction I went with my card.

Creative Crew 2024 - October

It's posting day for the Creative Crew. What exactly is the Creative Crew? We are a group of 7 card-making friends from various US locations who have a fun monthly creative adventure with a secretive twist.

One of the group's members hosts each month. As host, she chooses a theme and then sends each of the group members a theme-appropriate image and some designer paper. The host can also include a sentiment and/or special item if she chooses to do so. The group members all receive the same items, but there is to be no conversation about what was received or the cards we're making. Then, on the 15th of the month, we all reveal our cards.

It's always fun to see how each person uses the image/papers.

This month it was Lorraine's turn to host. She chose the theme...

Gingerbread House

Lorraine sent us the following items -

Image: "Gingerbread House - Peppermint Lane" from Brutus Monroe

Sentiments: "Happy Holidays" from Close to My Heart, "Bright Holidays Calligraphy" from Paper Inspirations, and "May Your Christmas" from Darcie's

DP: Green/Candy Cane from Colorplay's Homemade Holidays - Sweets Series, Lily White Sugar-Coated Cardstock from Doodlebug Designs, and Dark Blue/White Stars Paper from Echo Parks Let's Go Camping Series

Embellishment: Bitty Sparkles from Close to My Heart

THANK YOU, Lorraine!
