Creative Crew 2024 - September

It's posting day for the Creative Crew. What exactly is the Creative Crew? We are a group of 7 card-making friends from various US locations who have a fun monthly creative adventure with a secretive twist.

One of the group's members hosts each month. As host, she chooses a theme and then sends each of the group members a theme-appropriate image and some designer paper. The host can also include a sentiment and/or special item if she chooses to do so. The group members all receive the same items, but there is to be no conversation about what was received or the cards we're making. Then, on the 15th of the month, we all reveal our cards.

It's always fun to see how each person uses the image/papers.

This month it was Barb's turn to host. She chose the theme...

Halloween

Barb sent us the following items:

Image/Sentiments - Newton's Nook Happy Howl-oween

Designer Papers - Echo Park (Happy Halloween Line) Bat Festival and Haunted Houses and Around the Block Color Me Halloween

Embellishments - Ribbon

THANK YOU, Barb!

Here's my card:

From a Kit Series (PP) - September 2024

I started a new series on my blog in July of 2021. The idea was born from the fact that I have a lot of unused card/stamping kits just waiting to have some attention. Sheesh! Seems as though I buy them and they just sit. That just shouldn't be so I'm going to commit to using a kit once a month for this "From a Kit" series.

As I mentioned in my May 2023 blog posts, the only "kits" I have left (after completing the first 21) are SEVERAL Stampin' UP! Paper Pumpkin kits. I also mentioned that I've discovered I'm not really very fond of the card designs found in the Paper Pumpkin kits... so I decided IF I'm going to use those Paper Pumpkin kits that I've invested in, I'll need to veer away from the designs as they appear in the kits.

This month I made 3 cards using the July 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit - On My Mind.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

In addition to the Paper Pumpkin kit I used the following items...

CS - Accent Opaque 120# White, Amazon 120# Black, MFT Prickly Pear, and SU Calypso Coral CS

Dies -Gina K Master Layout 1, Honey Bee Sweet Stack Rectangles, and MFT Stitched Rectangles

Ink - Hero Arts Intense Black

TJ Design Team Having Some Spooky Fun

Happy Friday the 13th everyone and welcome to the Technique Junkies Friday the 13th Halloween Card Hop! Each Design Team Member has mad a Halloween card using Halloween stamps - new and previously released - with the hope that we inspire you to start making your own Halloween cards. Links to each of the cards is below and we hope you can hop on over to each one and check them out. Each Design Team Member also has a code on their posts that you can use to save 10% on the Technique Junkies website.

Here's my card:

I used the Technique Junkies Put on the Hat stamp for my card. The "witch/woman" was made using the Side Hat stencil from A Colorful Life, but Technique Junkies also has a stamp by the same name that could be used instead --> HERE. Of course her hat looks more classy so I used a piece of black cardstock for the hat instead of ink.

If you make a card using a Halloween stamp from Technique Junkies, please tag us by using #techniquejunkiesstamps so we can see what you create.

Now, let's go see the cards the Design Team Members made...

Hot Mess - September 2024

It's the 12th of January, time to get messy. (insert deer-in-the-headlight look) As you likely recall from previous 12ths, I am not one who likes messes. Not one bit. BUT a challenge is only a challenge if it stretches you, and I'm up for the Hot Mess Success Challenge.

Barb, Carol, Darlene, Terry, and I create cards for the Hot Mess Success challenge each month and share them on the 12th.

It's Anything Goes - as long as there is something messy involved.

I may have cheated a little bit this month -  but I can assure you I got very VERY messy making the background for today's card. The cheating aspect is it's a piece of leftovers from Tuesday's card which can be seen HERE.

Be sure to check out the other Hot Mess gals blogs, too, to see their cards (you'll be WOW'd!)...

SCS Sketch #SC1027

I find that having a sketch to use can get my creative ideas flowing, so I love being part of the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge team. There is a new sketch to work with every Wednesday. I encourage you to check them out.

Here's this week's sketch - SC1027:

My card:

Lest you think my card looks a bit off from the sketch, that's because I kind of sort of turned it upside down and tweaked it a bit to make my card.

Does this look more like it?

I hope you'll use the sketch to make a card, too.

I can assure you, this leftover piece WILL be used in a card in the future, so stay tuned.

I hope you'll check out the CAS Alcohol challenge - HERE - and play along, too.

Have a CORNY Halloween!

Kelly, Barb, and I have been creating together as the Three Musketeers every month since November 2014. We all three create a card using the same image. I always enjoy seeing how different our cards are, even though we use the same image. This is one of my favorite posts of the month.

We take turns choosing what stamp will be used. This month it was Barb's turn. She chose the cutest Halloween cat - Newton's Nook Candy Corn. She included three sentiments, too.

Thank you, Barb!

Be sure to check out Barb's and Kelly's cards, too...

Spellbinders - Playful Penguins

I am honored - beyond measure - to be guest designing for Spellbinders again. The dies I've been given to showcase this month are Halloween and Winter. I've also been given an embossing folder to use. These products have been a delight to work with.

I have another wintery card to share today. I used the ADORABLE Playful Penguins die set to make it and added some snowflakes from the Frozen Flurries die set.

I really like the detail on the penguins sweater.

I have three Halloween cards to share today.

She is just way too cute. If I had a bit more skill, I'd make a video to show you. Her legs swing back and forth!!! Since I'm no good at videos, I'll share two pictures that show her legs in different positions (swinging).

I did something wrong with this die set.
Can you see what it is?

The handle is supposed to be under the dogs "mouth"
not on top of it. Shucks!
