Catch Up Club -August 2024

In a text conversation amongst friends in the fall of 2022, we agreed that we were all falling behind in creating with items from virtual events, kits, even groups we are in. From that conversation the idea of the Catch Up Club took formation. We decided it was time to work on those cardmaking projects that were waiting for our attention.

On the last day of each month we've committed to sharing card/cards we have made from something we need to "catch up" on.

You can view my original Catch Up Club post - HERE - for more details.

For this month's Catch Up Club post, I chose to complete a card from the 2023 Taylored Expressions Virtual Stamp Joy (Session 6).

It should be noted that while most cards posted on my blog are my own designs (albeit sometimes inspired by others), these Catch Up Club cards are not my designs. I've completed cards designed by the class instructor, so while I've made the card, it is not original to me.

Please check out the blogs of my Catch Up Club friends, too...

CYS Sunflowers

One of my favorite challenge groups is the Challenge Your Stash group on SCS, under the capable and organized leadership of my friend Barb. The idea is we can't shop for anything when making our monthly challenge card (which we post on the 28th of each month).

I'm a day late this month since I had another obligation on my blog yesterday.

We take turns choosing the theme. This month it was Suzy's turn. She challenged us to use Sunflowers (or any yellow flower) on our cards.

I hope Suzy, Barb and the other Challenge Your Stash gals like my card.

Spellbinders - Handwritten Holiday Sentiments

I'm not wanting to cause a panic, but did you know that Christmas is four months from today? Will you be ready? How about Christmas cards - are you looking for a simple design so you can make your Christmas cards quickly? If so, today's blog post is for you.

I used the Spellbinders Handwritten Holiday Sentiments die set along with some fun Christmas designer papers to make three simple Christmas cards.

Of course I would be remiss if I didn't thank Spellbinders for the die set. They gave it to me as part of my guest-designing goodies. Thank you, Spellbinders!

Spellbinders - Lush Leaves

I am honored - beyond measure - to be guest designing for Spellbinders again. The dies I've been given to showcase this month are Halloween and Winter. I've also been given an embossing folder to use. These products have been a delight to work with.

Today's card features the embossing folder - Lush Leaves. It's a 3D embossing folder, such lovely details.

I started by blending 3 circles of ink (overlapping) onto white cardstock; then embossed it.

The sentiment is from the Spellbinders Cats and Pugs Sentiments stamp set.

Double Duty 2024 - Stamp Market

In January of 2021, my stamping comrades Barb and Kelly and I debuted a new series/challenge. Double Duty was Barb's idea... and it is a GREAT idea! I've had so much fun with this series. Thanks for inviting me to play along, Barb!

This is Barb's description of the Double Duty concept...

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  Post both cards on your blog on the same day—the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  Have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

Over the past year, things have changed a bit in who's participating, but not in the instructions. This year's Double Duty crafters are Barb, Carol, Darlene, and me.

This month's company is Stamp Market

I used the Cosmos Cluster stamp/die/stencil set.

Card #1

This really looked better in my head. I thought the "hi" would show up better. Oh well.

Card #2

I used the coordinating stencils and blended ink onto the image on both cards. In hindsight, I do not like the purple colors. UGH! That's what I get for choosing my papers first, I guess.

The thing/s that are the same on both cards (as per the challenge specifications) are the designer papers are all the same series from Stampin' UP!, the sentiments are from the another Stamp Market stamp set (Friendly Hellos), a strip from Love from Lizzy, and both cards have three rhinestones for embellishments:

Let's check out the other Double Duty cards, too...
