I can hardly believe it's already the 4th day of my Growing in Unity week. WOW! The time is flying by. I appreciate all of you who have stopping by my blog and left comments. You bring such joy to my heart. It will be fun to see which two commenters will be randomly chosen to win a prize from Unity.
As in the past 3 days, I've chosen a Unity stamp set for today's card that represents my daughter Brittney. On Tuesday I mentioned that she moved to Alaska to teach school in an Eskimo village. Over the next 9 years she taught Special Ed in the same district, but in 3 different villages. Each village was off the road system, which meant the only access is by plane - or by boat in the warmer months. Teacher housing (she paid rent but didn't have to find a home) was very close to the school. Much of what she needed (groceries, etc.) were purchased online, though there was a small store in each of her 3 villages.
Brittney's adventurous personality enabled her to try foods I would never want to eat and to do things that would terrify me - like walking across a frozen river.
She didn't own a car - but she did end up buying a Honda (that's what they call four-wheelers) and a Snow Machine (what they call snow mobiles).
This year has brought changes and new adventures. She took a job teaching Special Ed in Anchorage. So, she bought her first home and she bought an SUV, too.
Of course she didn't buy the SUV in Alaska, she bought it in Illinois and she and her dad drove to Anchorage - what fun they had. It took two weeks and they saw so much along the way.
The Unity Warm Wishes for Your Home stamp set seemed fitting for today's post.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
Don't forget to leave a comment in order to have your name put in the drawing for the Unity prize! And come back and comment each of the five days so you'll have a greater chance of winning.
