Hot Mess - Take 53

It's the 12th of December, time to get messy. (insert deer-in-the-headlight look) As you likely recall from previous 12ths, I am not one who likes messes. Not one bit. BUT a challenge is only a challenge if it stretches you, and I'm up for the Hot Mess Success Challenge.

Barb, Carol, Darlene, Terry, and I create cards for the Hot Mess Success challenge each month and share them on the 12th.

It's Anything Goes - as long as there is something messy involved.

This month I decided to play with some Lindy's Magical Shakers and a stencil.

First taped a stencil onto a piece of 120# white cardstock (perhaps I should have used watercolor paper instead). Then I sprinkled two colors of Magicals on top and gave it a good spritz of water to transform the powders into a vibrant mix of colors.

Then began the wait. The paper curled (not surprising) and the moisture was taking a long time to dry so I became resourceful. I laid another piece of the white cardstock on top, pulling up the colors that were on the stencil and piece of cardstock underneath it.

That piece turned out quite pretty. In fact, it is the piece I used on this card...

The original piece did eventually dry and I've saved it for a future card/project.

Be sure to check out the other Hot Mess gals blogs, too, to see their cards (you'll be WOW'd!)...

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

  1. Love the look of your hot mess using the stencil. It reminds me of watercolors, and they are my favorite. I applaud you for your take on this challenge. TFS
