Hot Mess - Take 48

This is the 13th of July, but I'm sharing my Hot Mess Success card a day late, as I had a design team post on my blog tomorrow. As you likely recall from previous 12ths, I am not one who likes messes. Not one bit. BUT a challenge is only a challenge if it stretches you, and I'm up for the Hot Mess Success Challenge.

Barb, Carol, Darlene, Terry, and I create cards for the Hot Mess Success challenge each month and share them on the 12th.

It's Anything Goes - as long as there is something messy involved.

Now, don't think I'm crazy, BUT... I had lab work done last month and as they always do, they used a wrap to hold a cotton ball in place when they were finished. When I removed it from my arm, I had an AhHa moment. Surely this would be useful for stamping.

First I wrapped it on an acrylic block and used that to "stamp" SU Lemon Lime Twist ink onto a piece of white CS.

I used the other side to "stamp" SU Tip Top Taupe ink on top of the same square of ink. I used a die to cut the piece for use on my card.

Next I unwrapped it from the block and wadded it up a bit. I used that to "dab" ink onto the edges of another piece of white CS, which I later die-cut.

My fingers managed to get quite messy with these techniques.

I did end up blending TE Toffee ink around the edges of the smaller piece because I thought it needed some definition.

Be sure to check out the other Hot Mess gals blogs, too, to see their cards (you'll be WOW'd!)...

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

  1. Stunning card! I love the vintage look (gauze no exception) and the lovely hexagon as a focal point! Beautiful floral!

  2. What great and innovative ways to use the wrap, Jeanette, and a stunning card from it. Love the effect of both ways of using it, particularly the 'scrunched' use.
Here we just get some sticky plaster once they are happy that the bleeding has stopped - nothing as exotic as that!!

  3. You are one creative lady--and one who lets nothing go to waste or into the trash before another use. This curd is very cute!
