I know it isn't the 12th of the month, which is the date of the monthly Hot Mess Success challenge. BUT - I have a SCS Sketch card to post on my blog tomorrow, so I'm posting the Hot Mess card a dat early. I hope the other Messy Gals don't care that I'm doing that.
As you likely recall from previous 12ths, I am not one who likes messes. Not one bit. BUT a challenge is only a challenge if it stretches you, and I'm up for the Hot Mess Success Challenge.
Barb, Carol, Darlene, Terry, and I create cards for the Hot Mess Success challenge each month and share them on the 12th.
It's Anything Goes - as long as there is something messy involved.
I read somewhere (I don't remember where) that you could adhere foil to paper using a glue stick and pressing the foil onto it. It sort of worked for me, but the oomph I was hoping for kind of fell flat. Not very impressive, to say the least.
The flowers are a fun stamp set from Rubbernecker that was one of many in the SWAG Bag I received at Barb's No Foolin' Retreat. Rubbernecker certainly spoiled the attendees!!! Thanks Rubbernecker!
I used two colors of Ken Oliver Color Burst powders mixed with a wee bit of water to stamp the color first. After that dried I stamped the outline stamp with Hero Arts Intense Ink. I managed to get even messier with this technique.
I definitely had fun making this card, even if it did look better in my head than it does on paper.
Papers: Recollections Black and SU Pumpkin Pie CS and DP from my scrap file
Messy Medium: Glue Stick, Foil, and Ken Oliver Color Burst Powders
Dies: Birch Press Big Hello Sugar Script and Honey Bee Sweet Stacks Rectangle
Embellishments: SU Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots
I think this is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card--I love this technique and will try it soon. Very Creative!
ReplyDeleteA fabulous 'arty' result Jeanette - loving the foiling, it 'works' perfectly with the gorgeous flowers.
ReplyDeleteI have found that the foiling with glue is always patchy/uneven, more so once the foil is getting a bit 'worn, but i do love the results, and it fits fabulously with the loose look of your flowers
Blessings
Maxine
Wow Jeanette! I think your card is very artistic and trendy! I love the bright oranges and yellows. The foiling is perfect as it is. I like that it doesn't have an even border etc. This is a very lovely card!
ReplyDeleteJeanette this card is over the top beautiful!!!!! I love it.
