My Scrap File - Altered Papers

You might notice that I often use designer papers from what I call my scrap file. What is my scrap file, you might ask. Well, it's actually drawers - 12 of them to be exact. I have my bits and pieces of papers organized by color or theme, one of which is called Altered Papers. Those are papers that I've created but not ended up using... so I save them just in case I decide to use them in the future.

I do purge my scraps every year or so, at whatever point the drawer starts to fill too much to open/close easily.

For today's card I pulled a piece of altered paper from my scrap file. It was actually a piece that I made using a piece of old corrugated cardboard and some acrylic paint.

Yes, paint. Because it was acrylic paint the image didn't stamp the best, which I expected going into it. I thought it would give it a more artsy feel, which it does. It also meant it didn't dry well... and I was afraid to put any heat to it since I didn't know how the acrylic paint would handle that so I just set it aside and let it dry overnight.

In hindsight, I wish I'd put the sentiment a little higher because I think the silhouette needs some grounding, but it is what it is.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

I think it turned out very well. I like the background and the "off kilter" sentiment.

What an awesome card Jeanette - love your arty background and the way you have made your sentiment with the two pieces of card at different angles
