It's the 12th of January, time to get messy. (insert deer-in-the-headlight look) As you likely recall from previous 12ths, I am not one who likes messes. Not one bit. BUT a challenge is only a challenge if it stretches you, and I'm up for the Hot Mess Success Challenge.
Barb, Carol, Darlene, Terry, and I create cards for the Hot Mess Success challenge each month and share them on the 12th.
It's Anything Goes - as long as there is something messy involved.
Sometimes when I set out to make my Hot Mess card I have an idea of where I'm going with it, but sometimes it just seems to go its own way. This was one of the latter times. What I thought would work, didn't work, giving me a much different outcome than I anticipated.
I inked up an embossing folder with VersaMark Ink and then used clear embossing powder, thinking it would just hit the raise areas causing those to resist ink blending. In reality, what happened is the recessed areas got embossed and the raised areas took on the ink blending. I'm not sure how that happened, but I chose not to stress about it and just continue on with a card design.
I used ink blending on the dome/half-circle piece, too, giving it a softer look than colored cardstock would have provided.
Not what I thought I'd be making, but I did have messy fingers once the card was finished, so I guess I was successful with my Hot Mess.
