Creative Crew 2023 - January

Not that anyone's counting, but many years ago my friend Kelly came up with the idea for a group she called Dueling Darlings and she invited me to partner with her in the adventure. There were two teams of 7 cardmakers. Themes were chosen each month and kits sent, with the big reveal taking place on/near the 15th. You can check out all the details on the very first "duel" which took place in August 2010 - HERE. While the members changed some over the years, the concept remained the same.

In October of 2022, Kelly announced that she would be leaving the group. Barb, one of the other original duelers, and I put our heads together and tried to figure out a plan to keep the group going, even though some changes would be needed. For one thing, with Kelly's departure, we were now an uneven-numbered group, so dueling as we'd known it in the past could no longer work.

This is our first posting day as the Creative Crew.

What exactly is the Creative Crew? There are 7 of us and we've committed to a 9-month round. We'll not take a break, so at the end of the 9 months, those who want to continue on will jump right into round 2.

We each chose a month to host (February - August). The host will choose a theme and send kits to the other group members. We'll not discuss the theme nor the kits even though we are all receiving the same items. On the 15th of the month we'll share our cards.

In January - this month - Barb and I had a special treat for the group. First we chose a theme and then Barb sent images and I sent papers/embellishments... BUT neither of us knew what the other one was going to send, so it was anyone's guess if the items would work well together. Of course with a theme of SNOW, we were fairly certain it would work out okay. And it did.

Barb Sent: Image - Creative Vision Snowman with Broom Large

Jeanette Sent: Papers/Embellishments - Mostly from my Stash (two of the ribbons were from AMuse Studio, a tag was from Paper Studio, and Puffy Green Dots were from Dollar Tree)

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Be sure to come back on the 15th of February when we'll all share cards using a kit that Darlene will be sending out.

The only things I used other than what was in the items Barb and I sent was some dies (Gina K Master Layouts 2 and MFT Stitched Rectangles) and some CS for the card base (SU Orchid Oasis)
