Giving in to Temptation

It seems odd to me some of the memories that we keep for years decades. For instance, I probably wasn't more than 5-6 years old when we first visited Knott's Berry Farm in California. It was a fun place with ride galore and fun food vendors, etc. One wouldn't be surprised for a youngster to remember those things. But the most vivid memory I have is standing at the glass blowing shop mesmerized by the artist creating delicate items with extremely hot liquid glass. I so wanted one of those treasures to take home. BUT they were pricey and my mom didn't think it was within my child's budget. (It wasn't.)

The shop owner pointed out a basket on the counter that was filled with brown paper sacks, stapled closed. The sign said Grab Bag Blown Glass. I don't remember the price listed, but I do remember my mom nodding that yes, I could purchase one of those. As I pondered which bag to choose, the shop owner subtly - okay, not so subtly - placed the small trinket I'd admired on the shelf into a brown paper sack, stapled it closed, and placed it on top of the stack in the basket, while sharing a smile with my mom and me.

I took home the treasure - an adorable little turtle. I kept it for many years, remembering fondly the day I'd purchased it.

I'm still drawn to grab bags. 

That's one of the reasons I like virtual stamping events. One signs up, pays the fee, and then waits for the long-anticipated package to arrive, showing what goodies will be used in the event.

I'm also attracted to grab bags that stamp companies have from time to time. I try to be selective which ones I purchase. Truthfully, there have been a few times of buyers' remorse. But the temptation is real.

Not long ago a company I like had a grab bag and the price was right so I gave in to temptation.

The package arrived and I was not disappointed. 

It contained the following items: Thank You Stamp Set, Flourishes Embossing Folder, Circles Mixed Media Stencil, Butterfly Trio Die Set, Family Names Die Set, Grass Lawn Die, Happy Birthday Caps Die, and two packages of sequins (green and pink).

Obviously, not everything could be used in making one card, but I did manage to use 5 of the items on my card - the stamp set, the stencil, to dies, and the green sequins.
