The 15th of each month is such a special day here on my blog - it's Dueling day.
Not to worry; no blood is drawn in the duel. Well, unless someone punctures themselves with a paper piercer gets a deep paper cut or some other such hazard of this hobby we love. This is actually a friendly harmless duel. That's why we are called Dueling Darlings 2.
Not sure what that is? It's a concept that my friend Kelly came up with over a decade ago - two groups, two hostesses, one theme, and lots of fun. The hostesses choose the theme and then each hostess sends a theme-appropriate kit to the other members on her team.
Each person creates a card and keeps it all a secret until the 15th, which is posting day.
Because there are eight of us in the group, we have hostesses for the first four months of the year and then the month of May is a bit different - Kelly surprised all of us with a colorful envelope and a wee bit of fun inside. She asked us to create a monochromatic card with the items she sent. As I understand it, we each have a different randomly selected color. (I could be wrong... we'll have to check out the other duelers cards to see.) My color is orange.
We are a RAINBOW!
In Kelly's words - "We are a rainbow!" Each of us brings a light and color to life ~ from the quietness of pastels to the boldness of brights! Each of you are an important 'band' of the rainbow because in order to have it, we all need to be together as one.
THANK YOU for a great SURPRISE this month, Kelly!
Now, let's duel...
Orange was my mother's favorite color, so I thought of her as I made my card.

ReplyDeleteWOW Jeanette - this is a stunner. Love the offset die cut rectangle, and also that sentiment is a fun, but profound one

What a fun card Jeanette. I love the layout and that you added color to the bands of the rainbow. And--the sentiment is perfect!
