The 15th of each month is such a special day here on my blog - it's Dueling day.
Not to worry; no blood is drawn in the duel. Well, unless someone punctures themselves with a paper piercer gets a deep paper cut or some other such hazard of this hobby we love. This is actually a friendly harmless duel. That's why we are called Dueling Darlings 2.
Not sure what that is? It's a concept that my friend Kelly came up with over a decade ago - two groups, two hostesses, one theme, and lots of fun. The hostesses choose the theme and then each hostess sends a theme-appropriate kit to the other members on her team.
Each person creates a card and keeps it all a secret until the 15th, which is posting day.
Lorraine and Barb are this month's hostesses. They came up with a great idea for their theme...
Team Coffee/Team Tea
Barb is Team Coffee and Lorraine is Team Tea. To add to the fun, we are supposed to share what our own personal favorite is, which may or may not coincide with the team we're on. In my case, it does. I'm on Lorraine's team - Team Tea - and my beverage of choice is Iced Tea. It's a good thing I'm a northerner - no Sweet Tea for me. I drink between 1/2 and 1 gallon of iced tea each day. That would be way too much sugar (and calories) if my tea was of the southern style.
Here's what was included in Lorraine's AMAZING kit...
Image/Sentiments: Hampton Arts Small Heart mug, hearts, steam wisps die-cut from Neenah 110# White cardstock. Mug and sentiments stamped on Neenah 210# cardstock with CTMH New England Ivy ink. Hero Arts coffee mug and lemons stamped on Neenah 110# White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
Designer Paper: Simply Stories (brown polka dot paper), CTMH (green paper), Papertrey Ink (brown/green ivy paper), Unknown vendor (brown/tan flowers)
Ribbons: Floral Garden (brown satin ribbon), CTMH (Garden Green sheer ribbon), Celebrate It (tan jute with white polka dots)
Embellishments: Park Lane (white hearts), Jolee's (small white mugs), all other embellishments from CTMH
AND - she included a Lipton tea bag with these words: It's my brand of choice and I put a little sugar and lemon in mine. If you're so inclined, brew yourself up a cup of tea and know I'm sending you a hug in a mug!
THANK YOU for a great kit, Lorraine... an the hug in a mug, too!
Now, let's duel...
Here's the inside of my card:
Jeanette - that's me
Lorraine - SCS Gallery
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
The only things I used other than what was in Lorraine's kit was some CS (Neenah 110# Solar White, Recollections Brown, and SU River Rock) and dies from Gina K (Master Layout 2) and MFT (Stitched Rectangle). I colored the "lemon (I made mine a lime) with Copic Markers.
This is such a great card--I so love all of the details! Your kit from Lorraine looks so fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card Jeanette. Love how you used your coffee cup and the inside looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteAmazing card with beautiful work! Love that you repurposed the lemon to a lime!
ReplyDeleteCute card, Jeanette. I can't imagine drinking that much tea, but I'm also a Team Tea person depending on the season. Mine is of the herbal variety though.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Jeanette. What an awesome card. I love the paper, layout and color choices you made. This card is so crisp and clean. Very eye catching. Great job.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous monochrome card Jeanette - love it
ReplyDeleteStay safe
