It's the 12th of December, time to get messy. (insert deer-in-the-headlight look) As you likely recall from previous 12ths, I am not one who likes messes. Not one bit. BUT a challenge is only a challenge if it stretches you, and I'm up for the Hot Mess Success Challenge.
Barb, Carol, Darlene, Kelly, and I create cards for the Hot Mess Success challenge each month and share them on the 12th.
It's Anything Goes - as long as there is something messy involved.
This month's card created quite a mess even though the final attempt wasn't too messy, so I'm going with it anyway.
I had purchased the Hero Arts Patina Effect Kit, thinking the finished product would be beautiful. I followed the directions and ended up VERY dissatisfied with the outcome. So I adapted. For my second attempt, the mess was enormous (embossing, ink blending, and more) but the finished piece again left me unhappy.
I tried again - this time using a piece of meshy stuff I've had for years to add the ink to cardstock and then embossing with the embossing powder. Finally, I liked how it turned out.
I think the meshy piece is actually something used in aquariums, but I'm not sure about that. I just know I've used it many times to add a speckling of ink to cards.
Here's a close up look:
I love the brass embossing powder.
Papers: Neenah 110# Solar White and SU Garden Green CS
Messy Medium: Hero Arts Patina Effect Kit
Dies: MFT Wonky Stitched Rectangles
Embellishments: Stickles Glitter Glue

Jeanette Your card is beautiful. I really love it. It is so striking and although it took alot to get to the point that you liked it I think it was worth the mess. You do such a wonderful job each month.
