Hot Mess - Take 29

It's the 12th of December, time to get messy. (insert deer-in-the-headlight look) As you likely recall from previous 12ths, I am not one who likes messes. Not one bit. BUT a challenge is only a challenge if it stretches you, and I'm up for the Hot Mess Success Challenge.

Barb, Carol, Darlene, Kelly, and I create cards for the Hot Mess Success challenge each month and share them on the 12th.

It's Anything Goes - as long as there is something messy involved.

This month's card created quite a mess even though the final attempt wasn't too messy, so I'm going with it anyway.

I had purchased the Hero Arts Patina Effect Kit, thinking the finished product would be beautiful. I followed the directions and ended up VERY dissatisfied with the outcome. So I adapted. For my second attempt, the mess was enormous (embossing, ink blending, and more) but the finished piece again left me unhappy.

I tried again - this time using a piece of meshy stuff I've had for years to add the ink to cardstock and then embossing with the embossing powder. Finally, I liked how it turned out.

I think the meshy piece is actually something used in aquariums, but I'm not sure about that. I just know I've used it many times to add a speckling of ink to cards.

Here's a close up look:

I love the brass embossing powder.

Be sure to check out the other Hot Mess gals blogs, too, to see their cards (you'll be WOW'd!)...

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
