9/11
Just saying that out loud (or reading it here on my blog post) causes a bit of sadness to take over. This day is one we wish hadn't happened, at least not on that fateful day twenty years ago.
We could all likely tell stories of where we were when we heard the news that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center, to be followed by additional devastating news. We sat glued to our televisions, watching in horror. Our eyes saw things they cannot forget. We should not forget.
We prayed. We cried. We were traumatized.
Today we remember.
We remember the lives lost. We remember the grieving left behind. We remember the devastation. We remember those who suffered PTSD as well as physically after searching through the ash. We remember.
We also remember 9/12. On that day, in the midst of our heartache we also heard stories of heroes. The heroes who overtook the hijackers, bringing the plane down in a field instead of its intended destination. The heroes who ran into the Trade Center and the Pentagon as others were fleeing... to do a job that would cost them their lives. The heroes who offered a listening ear, a bottle of water, a nourishing meal, a prayer. The heroes who volunteered to help in the cleanup. The heroes who sat with those grieving and waiting for news.
On 9/12 we learned that #togetherwedomore.
Let us never forget.

Oh my Jeanette. What a beautiful tribute and a beautiful card to match. You captured it all. What an awful event but what amazing wonderful people that stepped up and went above and beyond to show that kindness still reigns . In this crazy mixed up world we all need to remember this and make an effort to be a little kinder to everyone we meet. ♥
