Blue Knight - Tree Swing

NOTE: This is my second blog post of the day. My Three Musketeers card is in the blog post following this one, so if you'd like to see it, please keep scrolling - or click HERE.

Today is an exciting day!

I was invited to guest design for Blue Knight Rubber Stamps in May... and now Lynn (the owner) has invited me to be part of the design team. I am over the moon excited about that because Blue Knight Rubber Stamps has such amazing stamps and Lynn is a sweetheart, too. THANK YOU for this opportunity, Lynn!

Today is my first official post as a DT member. You'll see my posts every Friday, so I hope you'll stop by each week.

This week I am featuring the Tree Swing stamp. This truly is a gorgeous stamp - and it looks great whether you color it or not.

Colored Card with Clouds:

For this first card I chose to color it (using Copic markers) with brighter colors and a sense of springtime. Of course, there HAD to be clouds in the sky, so I used the Heidi Pettie Cloud Stencil that's available in the Blue Knight Rubber Stamps and some blue ink to create the clouds. This is my "go-to" stencil for clouds. It is very easy to use and I love the results I get with it.

Once colored, I cut the piece with a My Favorite Things stitched rectangle die and matted it on a piece of black cardstock.

Uncolored Card with Clouds:

After the colored version, I decided to try making a sepia-colored version. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any sepia products in my stash, so I went with Warm Grays instead. I'm actually glad I did, because I've discovered I like that coloring better than sepia.

After coloring the image using Warm Gray Copic markers, I blended Ranger Pumice Stone Distress Ink around the edges and also used it along with that same Cloud stencil to make the cloudy sky.

Once again, I used a stitched rectangle die to cut out the piece and matted it with black cardstock.

Colored Card:

For my third card using the Tree Swing stamp, I once again colored with Copic markers, but this time, I colored the ground surrounding the small lake with tan colors and made the water a darker blue shade. This time there are no clouds in the sky; instead I simply blended blue ink onto the sky area, using a mask that I cut from the stamped image to keep the sky ink from getting on the hills/land/lake.

I used the My Favorite Things Single Stitch Line Rectangle Frame die to make a white frame to add to the top of the colored image on this card.

I think it's amazing to see how one stamp looks so different depending on how it's used.
