It's the 12th of January, time to get messy. (insert deer-in-the-headlight look) As you likely recall from previous 12ths, I am not one who likes messes. Not one bit. BUT a challenge is only a challenge if it stretches you, and I'm up for the Hot Mess Success Challenge.
Barb, Carol, Darlene, Kelly, Terry and I create cards for the Hot Mess Success challenge each month and share them on the 12th.
It's Anything Goes - as long as there is something messy involved.
This month's messiness included a piece of corrugated cardboard...
I ripped one layer away to reveal the washboard look, but also left behind some of the covering. I used an old gift card to add acrylic paint to the piece of cardboard and then placed a piece of white cardstock on top of it to pick up the ridges of paint. I turned the paper and did the same thing again, to give it a criss-cross of paint. What I didn't expect was the blotches of paint that would have taken f-o-r-e-v-e-r to dry. Solution? I took the same gift card and rubbed across the piece to smooth it out.
In my excitement of how much I liked the look, I forgot to take a picture of that stage. UGH! So onward to show you the card.
The green part is the acrylic paint part. I like how smoothing out those ridges of paint gave it a checkerboard look.
To complete my card I used some fun dies but also flowers and hearts because this week's Splitcoast Stampers Free For All Challenge theme is flowers and hearts and I wanted to make this card fit that challenge.
Be sure to check out the other Hot Mess gals blogs, too, to see their cards (you'll be WOW'd!)...

Oh Jeanette, This technique looks like it was fun. I'll have to try it (I may be calling you if I get stuck). I love how it looks. Great job on this card my friend.
What a fun and creative technique! I love the bright colors of the card and the flower is so pretty!
Jeanette this is a stunner - love your background, and what a great idea to 'stamp' with the corrugated surface
Stay safe
Blessings

Wow! I am in awe of your creativity and seeing the artistic possibilities in every day items! The background is amazing and sets off the images and sentiment perfectly. This is such a great technique, I'm going to have to revisit and try it myself.
It looks awesome!! I love it!
