Each Sunday (at 5:00 AM) I'm sharing how the week's 10-minute stay@home organizational challenge went. If you don't have an idea what that means and you're curious, you can learn more in my original Stay @ Home Update blog post - found HERE.
Now here's the disclaimer: Some of these daily stay@home challenges are taking more than 10 minutes, but who's counting, right?
Here's what I've accomplished this week...
Day 1 - SUN, May 31
This picture really doesn't show the extent of what I did for today's stay@home challenge. I had a rather large tub on the shelf in my Playroom that was half full of a variety of items (as seen in the picture). I took everything out of it, purged about a third of the items and put the rest in more appropriate storage options in my room.
Day 2 - MON, June 1
I sorted through this small bin of plastic embellishments, purging about half of them. For now the ones I'm keeping are in little ziplock bags in the same bin, but I'll be looking for a different storage option for these at some point in the future.
Day 3 - TUES, June 2
I had one of those paper holders full of papers that I honestly hadn't touched in years. It had some cardstock, some designer paper, and even a few kits in it. It was time to decide what to do with those papers and store them differently. Some of the items went to my pile of goodies to donate to a preschool teacher friend, some went in the take to the thrift store pile, and others were put in the appropriate paper storage. Oh, and that paper holder? Yep, it's going to be finding a new owner, too.
Day 4 - WED, June 3
This box of crafting goodies was sitting on the shelf. I don't know how long it been there, nor do I know the last time I looked to see what was in it. Today was the day. Those pencil boxes contained things like twine, silk flowers, Scrabble tiles, chipboard Coca Cola coasters and more. There was a bag of colorful feathers in the box plus some muslim bags left over from Bible School a number of years ago. I'm happy to tell you that EVERY item in the box with the exception of the Scrabble tiles have been purged - most of them will be going to my friend who is a preschool teacher.
Day 5 - THUR, June 4
Today I worked my way through another bin of assorted items - purging to donate, tossed a few items, and kept just a wee bit from it. I found a Quilling Kit amongst other things in this bin. I remember Quilling when I was a teenager - not sure why I thought I might try it again now, but apparently I did, since i have a kit.
Day 6 - FRI, June 5
Today I sorted through another bin of assorted items that had been overlooked for way too long. This one had a lot of charms in it (I kept most of them) and also some beads and other embellishments that I put in the To Be Donated box. Since most of these items were small, they will be going to our local thrift store.
Day 7 - SAT, June 6
I had a bin full of designer paper pads and kits that had been stored for a bit too long. I knew I needed to organize them if I was ever going to use them. Of course I found several papers that I knew I'd never use - they went in the box for my Preschool teacher friend I organized the ones I decided to keep and stored them with my other designer papers.
WOW! I just realized, this week I didn't add any of my remaining wood-mounted stamps into my Evernote inventory. I still have a few drawers of them to do. Maybe I'll get back to that soon.
Okay, that's it for this week. Stay tuned to see what I accomplish in the coming week.
