Stay@ Home Update #5

Each Sunday (at 5:00 AM) I'm sharing how the week's 10-minute stay@home organizational challenge went. If you don't have an idea what that means and you're curious, you can learn more in my original Stay @ Home Update blog post - found HERE.

Now here's the disclaimer: Some of these daily stay@home challenges are taking more than 10 minutes, but who's counting, right?

Here's what I've accomplished this week...

Day 1 - SUN, May 3
I have had this bin of assorted embellishments and things for quite some time. I never choose to use anything from it, because to be quite honest it is a bit overwhelming.... so I dumped the contents out onto my desk and sorted, purged and organized them.

I then put them into existing embellishment storage based on what type of item it was (for instance, the brads went into my brad storage, the ribbon into my ribbon storage, etc.).

Day 2 - MON, May 4
I had a drawer that had containers with mini ink pads in them - similar to the Ranger Distress ink pads I shared in a previous week. These just don't work well, since the ink pads are difficult to remove.

My solution was to remove them from the containers and store them in a skinny drawer in the same drawer unit. I also tested each ink pad, tossing those that were not juicy enough. Since they needed to be stored upside down, I also added a sticker with the ink sample on the bottom of each little ink pad.

 3 - TUES, May 5
I didn't think to take a picture of the bin of stamps - so this picture is kind of the finished step. I have a bin that I toss individual stamps into, waiting to be put in their appropriate storage system. Some of them were cling mount; some bare rubber. Today I put cling mount on those that needed it and then put them all in the stamp bins, sorted by manufacturer. I also added them into my Evernote Inventory if they weren't already there.

Day 4 - WED, May 6
I've done quite a bit of rearranging products in my drawer unit in recent days, so several of the drawers did not have the appropriate labels on them. It was time to take out my label maker and get some new labels made and added to the drawers. That's what I did for my stay@home challenge today.

With each drawer labeled, it makes it so much easier to find what I'm looking for.

Have I mentioned I love my label maker???

Day 5 - THUR, May 7
Okay, confession is good for the soul, or so they say... so I must confess that today's stay@home challenge project took way longer than 10 minutes BUT that's okay because I am super excited about it.

I've had my Copics stored in little tins on the top shelf of one of my Ikea Raskog Carts. The cart set to the left of my stamping desk and I could roll it up when I was ready to color. This worked well for a long time, but then I bought some more Copics (when Hobby Lobby had them on Clearance) and I'd really run out of room. It was time for a new storage system.

I ordered some marker storage from Amazon a few weeks ago and waited ever-so-patiently (or not so patiently, depending on my mood) for them to arrive. They came today and I practically IMMEDIATELY set them up.

The downside is they take up space on the surface of my desk but it is a large desk so I don't think that's going to be a problem. If I find it is, then I'll figure out another place to put them.

Don't my Copics look pretty though?

Day 6 - FRI, May 8
This handy Lazy Susan sits on my stamping desk with tools close at hand. It was become an over-loaded mess, though, so for today's stay@home challenge, I removed some of the items and better organized the ones that were staying.

Day 7 - SAT, May 9
I had 9 more bins of cling-mounted and clear stamps that needed to have dividers with manufacturer's labels, so I worked on that today.

Now all 37 bins are labeled. The picture doesn't show all of them, but they are all like these. (I'm not sure how many stamp companies are in those bins).

Okay, that's it for this week. Stay tuned to see what I accomplish in the coming week.

It is great you are getting organization done during the quarantine! Very inspiring! I love the storage if your clear stamps and your Copics. I really love having mine sitting on my desk : )
