A Pandemic Inspired Ready Set Go

Kelly, Barb, and I usually share our Ready, Set, Go creations on the third Wednesday of each month so today is the day.

Not sure what Ready, Set, Go is? Well, it's a lot of fun! And a bit of creativity. And an extreme challenge theme.

Ready, Set, Go is an idea that Kelly came up with over two years ago and she invited Barb and I to join her on the adventure. We take turns choosing the theme, but the idea is for it to be a bit more challenging than just the average theme.

This month it was my turn to choose the theme. We were in the early days of sheltering at home in many parts of our nation and life was changing moment by moment due to the Coronavirus pandemic. It was not something to be ignored, so I incorporated it into my theme.

This is what I told Kelly and Barb...

Even as we’ve dealt with the disheartening aspects of COVID-19, we’ve also heard many heart-warming stories. As restaurants were preparing to close to eat-in dining, one couple left a $9,400 tip so “the entire staff can feed their families.” A young woman went into the store and purchased the groceries for an elderly couple whom she didn’t know after they tearfully told her they were “afraid to go into the store.” Italians singing to their neighbors from their balconies. On and on the stories go.

So, for the April 2020 Ready Set Go theme I want you to find a heartwarming story from this pandemic period and use it as inspiration for your card. AND… because that in and of itself is too easy for these extreme themes… I also want you to pay homage to the early reports of people buying/hoarding toilet paper. How? By including something on your card that begins with the letter “T” and something that begins with the letter “P”.

Ready, Set, Go!

I have been enthralled with the creative ways that people have stayed connected with one another, even while staying apart. Just this week, I saw video from a town near me. The teachers in the local school received word that one of their special needs High School students, a teenager with high-functioning autism, was struggling by the many changes taking place in his life. He especially missed school and his teachers. The teachers took action and recruited "Mom's" help. Mom made plans to have her son sitting in a lawn chair in front of the house when the parade of cars drove past - probably about a dozen vehicles, each with teachers waving and honking horns. The smile on the young man's face certainly expressed his joy in seeing them.

Now about my TP...

T - Turquoise/Teal and
Three (Brads and Designer Papers)

P - Plaid and
Person

  4. I saw gas selling for $1.38 a gallon here in town yesterday. Cheap gas and nowhere to go!! I look forward to getting back on the road when it is safe and doing my best to help drive the price of oil back up to a reasonable price! Wish I had a convertible so I could drive by and wave like this cutie!
