I heard great raves about a product a few months ago and decided I wanted to give it a try. I was intrigued. I decided not to just try it myself, but to also get a couple of my stamping friends to join the adventure with me because, well, it's true: Good Friends Warm the Heart. From that idea a new series was born...
Mission Impossible Possible
I purchased three of said item and upon their arrival I packaged up one for each of those friends and mailed it a long with the following message...
Good Day, Ms. Card-Maker. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves the use of a substance that will be revealed to you upon opening this package. Two team members have been selected to work with you, I am one of them and the other one will be revealed within a reasonable timespan. She is an equally talented card-maker who, like you, will be given the opportunity to accept or decline this mission. Should you choose to accept the mission, you have a month to complete it, in which case at some point within the next month you will create a card using the enclosed substance on it and post it somewhere in a public forum (blog, gallery, FB, Instagram, or such). The theme of the card can be any of your choosing; the only requirement is that the substance be used in some way. Should you or any of the other two team members get caught with the substance on your fingers or clothing, laughter is sure to ensue. And Ms. Card-Maker, those laughing will disavow any responsibility for their laughter.
This message will not self-destruct in five seconds, since I have no ability to do that and besides, you might need to refer to it again at some point.
Good day, Ms. Card-Maker… and Good Luck!
Both friends received their item and agreed to join me in this Mission Impossible Possible adventure. You'll recognize these two - Barb and Kelly. I can hardly wait to see their blog posts today! I'm sure you'll want to check them out, too, so here are the links...
So what is the item? Ink on 3 Liquid Pixie Dust. You might have noticed I rarely use anything glittery on my cards other than Stickles Glitter Glue. There's a reason for that. I can't ever seem to get glitter to adhere; instead it likes to flake off. Then I heard about this Liquid Pixie Dust and I was intrigued.
Can I just say - I have a love/hate relationship with it at this point. I hope Kelly and Barb can sway me to the loving side of that relationship.
It goes on smoothly (with a paint brush) and dries relatively quickly. There is minimal flaking - but there WAS some flaking.
My camera does not like Liquid Pixie Dust. It shows up okay on the edges of the colorful designer paper, but oh my - the snowman looks discolored and even looks smeared (he's not) because the camera couldn't get past the shine, I guess.
I think I need some more adventures with this product. For now, let's just say, I gave it a try and I'm glad I did.
I told Kelly and Barb that I would send them something quarterly for this series, so you can anticipate seeing the next Mission
Thanks for stopping by my blog today:

I accepted the mission - accepted the package - and got to work with fun and enthusiasm! I hope that makes up for the rest going a bit downhill and sideways on my blog - hee hee! This is a great take on how to use the pixie dust and making a snowman was a super cute idea! Love the matching sparkly ribbon, too! Thanks for including me in your new Mission Possible!
ReplyDeleteYou are very entertaining Jeanette. I don't know how you keep up with all the challenges you are immersed in. Good for you. This card is delightful. Off to see Kelly and Barb's projects.
ReplyDeleteI think your card is very sweet. The Pixie Dust is great on the snowman and I am sure it is very glittery in real life! Thanks for another fun challenge and I do accept this mission!
ReplyDeleteWow Jeanette, you have created yet another challenge, but what an awesome one. Loving your results, and the way the camera finally caught the sheen really made me realise what a fabulous product this must be
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
