You might remember that last month Barb, Kelly, Terry and I began a new challenging series all about getting messy. We wanted to stretch ourselves a bit in our crafting and trust me, this stretches me since I'm not one who normally gets very messy. Sheesh! I don't even let my stamping desk get messy. Yep, I'm one of those people - you know, the ones who clean up between each card/project.
But I'm trying to change. Really, I am, though it isn't apparent by this very poor attempt at getting messy making a card. I'm sorry. I'll try to do better next month.
The "mess" on this card was made by using a stencil (Fun Stampers Journey Vintage Screen) and some embossing paste (Dreamweaver) that I added using a palette knife.
I wish you could feel my card - it has a great texture, thanks to the embossing paste. Now as far as looks - blah! However, the card makes me smile because it reminds me of my daughter who lives in Alaska. She loves her dogs.
Now be sure to head over to the other Hot Messes blogs to see their messiness, too...
Stamp: Penny Black Igloo stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic Markers
Messy Element: FSJ Vintage Screen Stencil and Dreamweaver Embossing Paste
Papers: Recollections Black and 110# White and SU Cherry Cobbler CS and DP from my scrap file
Embellishments: Craft Essentials Ribbon and Paper Studio Brads

I love the background and I can see the texture. Such a sweet image too! I am glad you are a bit out of your comfort zone with this group--as I am too! I also clean my desk at the end of every day!
Loving your hot mess Jeanette - that background looks fabulous to me!

That's a great card Jeanette! It does not look messy at all, but that's not the point....as long as you used a messy technique that's what matters! Turned out great!
What a cute pair!! Love the textured background!
Omgoodness, girl - maybe I can be like you when I grow up and blog and blog! took me forever to find this card! And wow, worth the dig! It's super! What a fun image - so perfect for your daughter, and a lovely technique! I tried this awhile back. Only mine was a MEH! Yours - a STUNNING mess!
