I'll Be Home for Christmas

It's duel day! The Dueling Darlings are hosted by the sister team this month - Debby (Dazzlers) and Suzy (Divas). They came up with this month's theme when they were together at Christmas time.

Christmas In July

The kit Debby sent the Dazzlers included the following items:

Image - Stampin' UP! "I'll Be Home"

Gemstones and Recipe Card - Paper Studio

Ribbon - Offray

Papes - all from Hobby Lobby

Thanks Debby!

I'm especially excited about this theme because it gives me another card to add to my growing box of Christmas Cards for the Troops.

Here's the inside of my card:

Debby/Suzy asked us to share a recipe that we like to include in our Christmas dinners. The recipe I'm sharing is actually one of the very few recipes I have from my MIL (she was a DEAR lady, but not much of a cook). Because of its vibrant color (red!) I always make it to go with our Christmas dinner. I will tell you I do not add the pineapple or nuts because when our children were little they would eat those. And now our tradition continues to leave them out. LOL!

Cherry Jello

Heat one can of Cherry Pie Filling and a package of (dry) Cherry Jello in a saucepan stirring constantly until the Jello dissolves.

Remove from heat and add 6-8 oz. of Pepsi/Coke, 1 small can of crushed pineapple (well drained) and 1/2-3/4 cup of chopped pecans.

Chill until set.

Be sure to check out the other Dueling Darling blogs, too. You'll find links in my left sidebar.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

The only thing I used in addition to Debby's kit was some cardstock - Archivers Weave Wine Red and Recollections Black

What a great card Jeanette! Love how you used the 2 different papers, and how you used the snowflake (I did something similar).

Very cute. It's hilarious--we used the same papers and ribbon. Great minds think alike.

......sorry, hit the wrong button......

Great mix of the DP's. I like how they look together. Great card!

The jello! It made me giggle. Whenever my MIL was in the hospital she demanded red jello. Of course they do not serve red jello in hospitals (it can be construed as something else) and we had to go over and over it! She would get all torqued about it. So every now and then I ask DH if he wants some jello....red? The recipe sounds interesting, so will add to my files, thanks.
