I Love You More than a Cupcake!

Thursdays make me happy because they are the day I get to showcase The Project Bin on my blog. Denise, the owner of the company, is the sweetest - and very creative, too.

For today's card (like the past 3 Thursdays), I've used the Really Hungry stamp set from The Project Bin. I like that it includes images and coordinating sentiments. If you like that feature, you'll also want to check out the NEWEST stamp set (just released) in The Project Bin store - The Gratest. I hope I'll have it in hand in time to make a card with it for next Thursday, so be sure to stop back by then.

Just look!
It's the GRATEST, isn't it?

But I'm getting ahead of myself. First, let's see today's card. As I said, it features the Really Hungry stamp set. The heart was created using a die from the In My Heart stamp/die set from The Project Bin.

Gallery Gazers CASE #7

As a member of the Gallery Gazers blog group, once each month I find a card in the SCS Gallery to CASE. This month I chose an adorable card created by Cristena. It can be found HERE. You can also find it on Cristena's blog - HERE

Thank you, Christena, for being such an inspiration!

For my CASE, I replicated her overall design and color scheme. I obviously used a different image and I added a sentiment, too. I also placed the two trios of rhinestones a wee bit differently than she did.

Travel the World - Week 4

This is the fourth week in my Travel the World personal challenge. Each week I am randomly choosing one country (there are 195 countries in the world) and doing a little research on that country. I then select one tidbit of information about the country as inspiration for the card I make.

This week's country is...

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is situation in the Southern-Eastern part of the Asian Continent. It is bordered on the northeast by Kuwait, on the north by Jordan and Iraq, on the east by the Arabian Gulf, Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, on the south by the Yemeni Republic and the Sultanate of Oman, and on the west by the Red Sea.

With a size of 830,000 square miles, Saudi Arabia is the 13th largest country in the world.

Ninety-five percent of the country is classified as a desert or semi-desert.

There are no rivers located in Saudi Arabia, making it the largest country in the world that does not have a river.

Approximately22% of the world's oil reserves are located in Saudi Arabia.

The country is building the world's tallest building: Jeddah Tower stands 3,280 feet tall.

Winds from the north called shamal can blow for days at a time and can reach speeds up to 50 miles per hour.

One thing that Saudis do for fun is to tilt a vehicle while driving, while another person stands on top of the vehicle as it is in motion. This is called Sidewalk Skiing.

Every shop in Saudi Arabia will close immediately during salat (prayer time) and they will reopen immediately when prayer time is over.

Fresh water is more expensive than oil in Saudi Arabia.

It actually snows in Saudi Arabia sometimes - rarely, but it does.

Traditionally, non-Muslims could not be buried within the borders of Saudi Arabia. However, in 2012, the country eased burial restrictions under certain circumstances.

At almost 10,000 feet above sea level, Jabal Sawda is the highest point in Saudi Arabia.

About half of the population is under the age of 24.
Saudi Arabia has one of the lowest rates of females in the workplace in the world. Just 20% of females are in the workforce.

Women are not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia. It is the only country in the world that has made it illegal for women to obtain a license to operate a car. Other things that women can’t do? Open bank accounts, travel, work, or go to school without permission from their male guardian.

Winds from the north called shamal can blow for days at a time and can reach speeds up to 50 miles per hour.

Harry Potter books are banned in Saudi Arabia because they talk about sorcery.

The consumption of alcohol is illegal and can result in harsh punishments if the law is broken.

Birth control is illegal in Saudi Arabia.

Education, including college and post-graduate schooling, is free in Saudi Arabia.

All public schools in Saudi Arabia are religious, and the state mandates daily study of the Koran beginning in first grade and taking up roughly half the school day. At elementary school level, religious studies average a total of 9 periods a week while math, science, geography, history, and physical education combined average only 12 periods a week.

I decided to let this Saudi Arabia fact be the inspiration for this week's card... Roughly 100 camels are sold each day in Saudi Arabia.

Thanks A Latte!

The Challenge Your Stash group on SCS has been around for at least a couple of years now - maybe Barb can tell us for sure how long, since she's the one who came up with the idea. Each month one of the members chooses a theme and we all create something theme-appropriate. The main rule is - we have to use what we have. We can't buy anything new to complete the challenge.

Fun - and economic, too! No stretching the pocketbook with this group.

This month Sue chose a great theme for us...

Make a Thank You card
and Use some type of embossing on it

I hope Sue, Barb, and the other Challenge Your Stash gals will like my card a latte.

Using Cardboard Isn't Boring

I ordered a couple of books and they arrived this week I looked at the corrugated cardboard they came in and thought to myself... Useful? Sure! Why not!

So I tore and tore and tore a piece to get the size I wanted, making sure to see  bit of ruggedness, too. Then I taped it into my stamping platform using Washi Tape (since it was too thick for the magnets to work)... and I stamped the tree from the Raisin Boat Winter Heart and Sole stamp set onto that piece of cardboard.

I kind of like the way it looks:

I stamped the ice skates onto 110# white cardstock so they would be sturdy enough to pop up with foam tape. The heart is a brad - it worked fine since it had longer posts, not wee short ones like some brads have.

I wanted to do something with the inside of my card, too, so I took a similar (yet taller) tree from the Raisin Boat Merry Nature stamp set and stamped it on the inside.

Maybe I should look at other things around me (like cardboard) in new ways - wondering how I can use them in my card-making. It's fun, creative, and maybe even a wee bit eco-friendly, too.

Life Is Like a Camera - Focus

love LOVE Washi Tape. I'll confess, I have somewhat of an addiction to the stuff! Why? Well, it's colorful and fun. It's easy to use. It's flat and lightweight, so it doesn't require extra postage when mailing cards made with it. It comes in a wide variety of colors, designs, widths, etc. It is inexpensive. The list goes on and on and on.

Oh... and did I mention? Eyelet Outlet has lots and lots and lots of Washi Tape!

I love Washi Tape!

Let's count and see how many different Washi Tapes are featured on my card today... how many do you see?

Look closely (one of them is trying to hide).

There are 6!

Yes, six!!!

3 colors of Skinny Washi
(PinkTurquoise, and Yellow)

Camera
(similar to this one)

And the really fun thing about all of this Washi Tape is it makes the card so colorful and creative, with no need for decorative papers.

In addition to Washi Tape I used a couple of other Eyelet Outlet products on my card...

It's a Birthday Potty

I needed a birthday card - quick! Do you ever find yourself in that situation? Or is it just me???

Anyway - FAST was the key - so I looked in my stash of images that I colored for the 30-day coloring challenge last fall and I just happened to have the Whipper Snapper Birthday Potty image colored and ready to go. Whew!

I put this card together pronto and got it in the mail within less than an hour. I hope the recipient doesn't feel like I rushed too much. (Is it really true that it's the thought that counts? I sure hope so, at least this once.)

Here's the inside of the card:
