Ready, Set... Let's Go (to a Wedding)!

This is my second post of the day. If you're here to see my card for the Craftaholics R Us Challenge, please scroll down (it's the next blog post) or go HERE.

It is the people in my life that make life what it is.

Two of my dear friends - Barb and Kelly - and I have connected because of our love for paper-crafting, but it goes deeper than that in ways even I can't explain. We just get each other. I am so thankful for both of them. They love me (even when I'm not so lovable). They challenge me to do better. They encourage me when I'm down or critical of myself. They just make life so much fun!

I also think the sentiment on my card fits them to a T, as my grandma used to say...

I am here for you today and always.

Thank you, my friends, for always being there for me! I can't imagine life without you!

I always look forward to the Ready Set Go! Challenge that the three of us do each month. It is fun! Yes, sometimes it is a bit challenging... but that's the point. It's supposed to be a bit extreme.

This month Kelly is the "host" of the Ready Set Go! Challenge, which means she chose the theme.

This is what she challenged us with...

"Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and A Sixpence in your Shoe!"

With the season of weddings upon us, I thought this traditional wedding saying would be a fitting challenge to create a card or project!
This tradition comes from an Old English rhyme and the four objects that the bride adds to her wedding outfit or carries with her on the big day are just good luck charms.  Of course, it is a folk tradition in that, for example, something old represents continuity; something new offers optimism for the future; something borrowed symbolizes borrowed happiness; something blue stands for purity, love, and fidelity; and a sixpence in your shoe is a wish for good fortune and prosperity, although this remains largely a British custom.

So this is where your card or project come in!  You may use this saying in any form you like BUT use at least 2 ways to transform this saying into a card.  For example, your card could use a borrowed stamp, one that's old or new ... you can make it in shades of blue .... you get the idea ♥  It does NOT need to be a wedding card ~ just as long as we see where the (minimum) of 2 things you chose are!

THANK YOU, Kelly!

I actually used the first four elements on my card - something old, new, borrowed (well, sort of), and blue. (I'd never heard the last part of the phrase, and truthfully couldn't figure out how to add a sixpence element to my card, so I didn't.)

OLD - I found an OLD scrap of designer paper in my file that I have had so long I don't even remember having it. I'm sure I used it on another project at some point, or the scrap wouldn't be there. But, it has to have been a l-o-n-g time ago. Another OLD thing about this card is more about my special style. I almost always mat my layers on my card with black (or some dark) CS, but when I first started card-making I didn't do that. I also didn't do it on this card.

NEW - I used my very newest stamp on this card. In fact, it is so new that it arrived in the mail just one day before I stamped it to use on this card.

BORROWED - okay this one is definitely a stretch... I guess it's technically not BORROWED, because it was given to me, but the Close to Cocoa CS was given to me by a local friend who years ago supported Stampin' UP! but has since then quit making cards. She recently gave me her inks, papers, and some other fun goodies.

BLUE - this one's pretty obvious. I used Bordering BLUE CS on my card and part of my image was colored with BLUE Copic markers.

Now, let's head over to Kelly's blog and Barb's blog to see what they did with the theme Kelly chose.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today!
