Look Up and Believe

The Bible Art Journaling (BAJ) group on SCS has a theme each month. This month's theme is Believe. There are many verses/passages in the Bible that speak of believing. I chose a familiar Bible account of Jesus healing in response to someone's faith.

You might be familiar with the story. Jesus and his disciples had been going about, ministering to people. Luke 8:40 tells us the crowds not only welcomed Jesus, but they had been "waiting for him." A man named Jairus came up to Jesus and pleaded with him to go home with him and heal his only daughter.

Jesus went with Jairus, but as the crowds gathered around, Jesus stopped to heal a woman. While he was still speaking with the woman, word came that Jairus' daughter had died.

But when Jesus heard what had happened, he said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid. Just have faith, and she will be healed." (Luke 8:50)

And it was as Jesus said. They arrived at Jairus' home, where people had gathered. There was much weeping and wailing in the house. Jesus told the people to stop weeping; that the little girl was not dead, but only sleeping. The crowd laughed at him, knowing she was indeed dead. Then Jesus took her by the hand and told her to get up. At that very moment she stood up. Healing had come to Jairus' daughter.

I can just imagine the praising that happened that day. Wailing and weeping ceased. People turned to praising Jesus/God for giving Jairus back his daughter.

When we believe and look up to God in faith, He can do more in our lives than we can even begin to imagine.
