I have been admiring the "eclipse" cards I've been seeing on blogs, in galleries, and on Facebook... so I decided to give it a try.
Here's a closeup:
I learned a few things. First, the word/item you die cut really needs to be big enough to put the foam pieces behind. Mine wasn't, so you can see bits of the white foam showing. Ugh! It's also probably wise not to use white foam behind a dark paper. I'm jus' sayin'. I also learned it's pretty challenging to get a photo that shows off this technique well.
But... it was fun to do and I'll definitely be trying the "eclipse" technique again.
If you'd like to see the video tutorial I watched to learn how to do this, go HERE.

I love what you have done with the sentiment here, Jeanette! Wonderful card featuring this fun die cut technique!
I think you did a fine job! Do you think you could take a similar colored marker and touch the foam edges to cover any white the is bothering you? I have done this on fussy cut images to not show an edge if it is white. You did an 'amazing' job! :)
Great Card--love the color you used and I too need to try one of those soon!
