I've had a busy BUSY week... filled with meetings, appointments, trips to the auto mechanic, and more. But it has also had its share of fun. (I made 18 cards this week.) And at the time this post goes live, I'll actually be out-of-state visiting my parents and my sister. Fun times!
The card on my blog today was inspired by chapter 46 of the little book 50 Truths Worth Knowing.
Sometimes the Cynics
Are Just Plain Wrong
Nelson had an amazing day... but he said, "This wasn't how it was supposed to end. No it was supposed to be different."
See, Nelson had wanted to take his wife/children to New York City for the Thanksgiving Day Parade. It was his dream. But everyone - EVERYONE - he shared that with told him not to do it. They even asked him if he was nuts. They warned him of the traffic - it would be horrendous. They warned him of the hotels - they'd be overpriced and dingy. Parking would be impossible. Crowds would be overbearing. And... yes, even the weather would be unbearable. It would be FREEZING.
Nelson, what are you thinking???
Nelson actually considering cancelling his plans for his family, but when he found out the hotel had a no-cancellations policy, he forged ahead.
And all the nay-sayers were wrong.
Driving into the city, they encountered a lot of traffic - going the other direction. The reasonably priced hotel was comfortable and friendly. They walked a few blocks to the parade route and found the perfect spot to watch the parade.
Nelson says, 'I'm not a guy who especially likes parades, but this one blew me away. My kids got to pet the passing horses and high-five the clowns. During a lull, my daughters even held one of the guide wires of the legendary big balloons. The bids boomed. The temperatures were in the mid-60s."
Yep, it was pretty much an amazing DREAM-filled trip!
