Oh my goodness... this week has been AWESOME. How could it be anything but awesome, since it's Falliday at SCS. That means lots and lots of creating, drooling (I love seeing everyone's cards!), chatting... and fun, Fun, FUN!
I've made 15 cards this week!
The card on my blog today is the one for Barbara's "Picking Up the Pieces" theme. She challenged us to make a card using items left on our craft table. I actually went to her thread and expressed how difficult this would be for me, since I put things away after every card I make. She gave a good suggestion (make a few cards and force myself not to clean up) but I decided to do something else instead.
This little bin sits on the shelf beside my craft desk. It has my "working items" in it. There are tabs for different swaps/groups I'm in, for design teams, etc. I put behind each tab the things I need for that group. Toward the front there is a tab - "For Fun". I put things in there that are left over from projects I've worked on, but that I might want to do something with.
This is the stuff that was behind my "For Fun" tab:
So I used some of those items to make this card:
By the way, I also have a bin with bits of ribbon in it - that's where I got the ribbon that I used on this card.
Now, if you are used to coming to my blog on Fridays you know that's the day I also do my "50 Truths Worth Knowing" personal challenge. This is the 41st week of 2017, so the card I made (the one above) was inspired by the story in chapter 41 of the book 50 Truths Worth Knowing.
Suzanne grew up with a cautious mother (my word, not hers). Her mother decorated with white - walls, flooring, furniture. Glass top tables were a favorite of hers, too. So to keep all of these items looking - well, looking white - she encouraged her children (Suzanne and her sister) stay inside where there were allowed to "romp" in the family room that was filled with "dozens of over-sized white pillows." Her mom's theory was if the girls stayed inside, they wouldn't be able to track any dirt into the home. There was also no risk of falling out of a tree or off of a bicycle. No injuries for her little girls.
The plan worked and Suzanne's life remained "mar-free." As a young adult she drank ginger ale (less likely to stain if spilled) and spent vacations at home reading. Careful.
Then she met the man who would capture her heart and introduce her to a world beyond the white. With him by her side, Suzanne learned to wear red; she developed a love of different foods and outdoor adventures. Her husband introduced her to the world she had been missing. And with every new experience, she felt like a child experiencing it for the very first time.... because in reality, she was experiencing it for the first time.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
