Falliday Continues!

I've been enjoying doing the Falliday challenges, but so far I've only done the card ones. I'll need to catch up with the tutorials, too... but I much prefer making cards than other things.

Falliday Challenge #5
It's a Blizzard

Ann challenged us to make a "blizzard" on our cards by wrapping yard around an acrylic block and using it to add paint, distress ink, or something similar to dark-colored cardstock. I'd never really tried this exact technique before and thought it was super fun to do... but then I couldn't quite figure out what to do with it on my card. LOL! So I used my Grand Madison Window die and put the "blizzard" outside.

Falliday Challenge #6
Dendritic Technique

Shannon gave instructions for a super fun technique - I'd never even heard of Dendritic before. You use two hard surfaces (I used two large acrylic blocks) and put a thin layer of acrylic paint on one. Then smush the two together. When you pull them apart you get a unique pattern. Place a piece of cardstock on it and voila... the pattern is on the paper. I decided to use three different colors of paint; of course, I let each one dry before adding the next.

This challenge also goes along with the first card drive of Falliday. A sentiment was required inside the card, so I did that, too.

Falliday Challenge # 7
Get Your Mask On

Bev challenged us to use masking on our card. I hardly ever - like almost never - do this, so it was fun to use masking for a change. And I have to say, so far, this is my favorite card I've made for Falliday. I love how it turned out.

Falliday Challenge #8
Iced Leather

Lee challenged us to make Iced Leather on our cards. Again, something I'd never heard of. First we were instructed to use our sanding block to sand the surface of our cardstock. I loved the softness of it after doing this, but must say I don't really notice that much difference in the way it looks. Then we had specific instructions on how to add glitter. BUT... I cheated. I didn't have all the supplies Lee recommended, so instead I put a row of Stickles Glitter Glue onto a piece of scrap cardstock and then slid it across the surface of my prepared piece. It left a light random coating of glitter, much like the look Lee described in her technique.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
