Mid-Week Joy Report

NOTE: If you are here to see my entry for the 9th day of my 21-Day Bible Journaling Challenge, go HERE or keep scrolling. It's the blog post after this one.

I have much to be JOYful about again this week. I love to travel, lead workshops, attend meetings, etc.... but sometimes I just need to stay home and catch up on things here. This was a week that allowed me to do that, and that's a good thing, indeed.

I worked on lesson plans for some upcoming speaking engagements, made some cards (13 of them), kept up with my 21-day Bible Journaling Challenge, and just relaxed a bit, too.

I also got called out in the #give34challenge (by my friend and our state WMU President, Jill). Donations to the WMU Foundation help to support mission causes and we get to honor a special woman in our lives as part of the challenge, too. My mother-in-law Lois has moved to her heavenly home already and is missed, but I can just imagine the joy she's having in the heavenly choir (she loved to sing). I'm gladly sending my check to the WMU Foundation in honor/memory of this Lois.

This is a picture of my husband's family when he was a youngster.
He's the one in the middle.
(He would tell you he's the good-looking one.)

It's been a great week!

* * * * *

If you follow my blog much, you know that every Wednesday I create a card inspired by a chapter/excerpt from the book 50 Truths Worth Knowing. This is the 15th week... and the title of this week's chapter/excerpt sure grabbed my attention - Love is Strange.

Christine met her husband on Valentine's Day which sounds ever so romantic... however... she had mostly given up on love at the point in her life. She was 33 years old and had never been engaged. In fact, she'd left her boyfriend while she was writing a book. The Book of Love. LOL! Kind of ironic, don't you think. And on that Valentine's Day in 1997, she was promoting this new book but she said she was a "researcher of love who had lost heart."

Then, in walked Marc. Cowboy boots, curly hair, tall, and handsome. And Christine was wearing too much lipstick (it was a gimmick for her book promotion). Not the way to set a good first impression.

Marc left the book event early - he had band practice. But he invited Christine to his music gig that would take place the next night.

Long story short, they clicked. Very quickly. Seven days later they bought a house together. They were married on its front porch, with the guests - 150 of them - playing "Here comes the Bride" on kazoos.

Love Is Strange
