I can hardly believe that this is already the 11th day of my personal 21-Day Bible Journaling Challenge. That means I am now officially over the halfway mark. I'll be quite honest, when I started this I wasn't sure I'd be able to do it (and I'm still not sure I will, but at least it feels good to know I'm halfway there.) I also wasn't sure how painful it would be to actually show my Bible Journaling every single day. You might remember back on the first day I said that I often didn't deem my Bible Journaling as worthy of being seen, but to be accountable I was going to show it anyway.
Now for some more honesty... I just went back and looked at the previous 10 days of Bible Journaling and I can say there are only two of them that I really dislike enough that I wish I hadn't needed to show them to you. I guess that's not too bad for someone who really hadn't shown much of her Bible Journaling before now.
So, here we go - Day 11
The Parable of the Lost Sheep
Luke 15:1-7
This well-known parable that Jesus taught to the Pharisees and teachers tells the story of the man who had a hundred sheep and one of them was lost. Jesus asked, "What will he do?" Of course, the man in the story left the 99 and went in search of the lost one and when he found it he joyfully carried it home on his shoulders. Upon arriving home, he called his friends and neighbors together to celebrate the lamb that had been lost but now was found.
This is a beautiful visual of how much God loves each and every one of us - He is not willing for any of us to be "lost" and all of heaven rejoices when a lost soul (sinner) is found (saved). God loves us that much!
In order to explain the design of this Bible Journaling page, I need to tell you a little bit about the Bible I use for Bible Journaling. It was actually a Christmas gift from my husband in 2015. THANK YOU, Brent! I picked out the exact Journaling Bible I wanted... and the reason I chose it is because I was afraid I wouldn't know how to begin Bible Journaling. So after researching, I asked for the Inspire Bible because it has over 400 line-drawn illustrations in the margins. These can be colored or left as they are (black and white).
If you're not familiar with the Inspire Bible, go HERE to see it.
It didn't take me long to realize that I kind of wished I'd gone a different direction.... because I can't tell you how many times I want to journal on a page and it already has one of those line-drawn illustrations there. A few days ago my daughter, who is my Bible Journaling encourager, told me to just put a piece of paper on top of the illustration and do my own thing... which of course, I can do (but I haven't yet).
That being said, today I wanted to use one of "those" pages so instead, I colored the illustration and then covered it up. LOL! Actually I covered it up with a piece that flips open so you can still see the hand drawn (and colored) illustration behind it.
For this page, I thought that worked well.
And the good news is, I'm actually learning to be satisfied - no, even delighted - with the Bible I chose. It has such versatility when I think about creative ways to use it.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
