Try Something New

For today's card I used one of my most favorite dies - seriously! I love this die! It's called Argyle Card Panel and it's manufactured by Frantic Stamper (#10104). You can find it HERE.

This die is my favorite for a variety of reasons, one being its versatility. I'm going to show you one of the cards I made with it - using it in a much different way than I would normally use a die. In fact, I'd never done this before.

First, I cut this die out using a heavy piece of cardstock (I think it was 110# weight.) I then placed the cut out cardstock on top of a piece of white cardstock and taped it down onto my craft mat using blue painters tape.

I then selected three different colors of distress ink and using my clarity brush, I "painted" the ink onto the die/cardstock using a splotchy kind of effect.

This is what it looked like after I removed the painters tape and the cut piece of cardstock:

To finish the look, I stamped an apple branch image onto the inked cardstock. I also stamped those apples onto a piece of designer paper and fussy cut them and glued them onto the full stamped image. I layered the piece onto a card base matting with black cardstock and I added a strip of rhinestones for embellishment.

I was actually quite pleased with how this turned out.
