It's Tuesday... time to Try Something New. I'm a bit later than normal posting to my blog this morning - for good reason. I actually started making my Try Something New card last night... but I waited until this morning to color the image, so this could be my card for the 21st day of the Daily Marker's 30-Day Color Challenge.
Now, about trying something new. I actually saw this idea somewhere - but can't for the life of me remember where i saw it so I can't give credit. I'm sorry.
First I wrapped an acrylic block with a heavy/sturdy piece of twine:
Then I inked up one side and added ink to a piece of white cardstock:
I actually did this with three different colors of ink:
It was a fun technique to try. And I liked how the end result looked - especially paired with the trashy look of the image I chose to use.
I also stamped part of Oscar inside the card:

Oh his grouchy face looks like the one I had on this morning driving around town LOL!! I saw this technique on SCS and was intrigued - yours came out neat! Well done.
That's a great technique and I've seen it before too - but can't remember where. Makes an outstanding background for such a darling image. Great coloring too!

I LOVE this background technique!!! So glad you shared it with all of us. It's a bit like the technique of placing various sizes of rubber bands around a block, inking it, and stamping for a background. But, I think I like the technique you shared even better .... reminds me of the bamboo-looking wall coverings I have seen. Very subtle, but still makes a statement!
