2016 Is Here!

For the past few years I have chosen a word for the year – something that helps me focus. I have also made it a practice to set some goals for the year. I usually invest time in doing that during the week between Christmas and New Year’s. This year was no exception.

My word for the year is…

max·i·mize
ˈmaksəˌmīz/
verb

make as large or great as possible.
make the best use of.

Maximize is an action verb. I must do something to incorporate this word in my life. I can’t just “sit there” and be satisfied with the way things already are.

In keeping with that word, my goals are:

Maximize my Christian walk – spend more time studying God’s word (I’m going to try my hand at Bible Journaling to help with that) as well as investing in the lives of others as Christ admonishes His followers to do. Love my neighbor. Help those in need. Be a friend to the lonely.

Maximize my home – we’ve just moved into a different house and it is adorable, comfortable, and suits our needs very well. I am thankful to the Greater Wabash Baptist Association for providing such a nice home for the Director of Missions (my husband) to live in. I want to make the most of this space. One way I’ll do that is to focus this year on getting everything organized and orderly, especially in my Playroom. (By the way, I’ve tried to think of another name for “my room” and have had no luck at all finding a name I like. Retreat. Refuge. Hideaway. Sanctuary. Nothing seems to suit me… so for now, at least, I continue to call it my “Playroom”.

Maximize my hobby – cardmaking is my hobby of choice. I don’t plan to change that… but I also don’t want to get in a rut, so I’m going to try new techniques, venturing beyond what is comfortable and thinking outside of my normal style. EEK! Does that mean I’ll use less black cardstock? Maybe; maybe not. Does it mean I’ll try other coloring tools? I hope so. Though I love Love LOVE my Copics, I also own watercolor pencils, Gelatos, and other items – most of which have seen very little use. I hope you’ll see some new things on my blog – if I’m not too embarrassed at my feeble attempts to try something new. LOL!

Dear friends, I hope as you dive into 2016, you too will find something new to inspire you while you strive to be the person you are meant to be. I will enjoy seeing your creations this year and will appreciate your feedback as I continue to create and blog.

I you!

THANKS for stopping by my blog!
I will try to have a card to show you in the next few days.

  5. I love your choice, Jeanette! How perfect for the new year.

My sister is doing Bible Journaling, and I look forward to seeing her Facebook posts every day. I need to convince her to put them on her blog for all to enjoy. I sure hope that you post some of yours here.
