ATC #3
If you recall, I've not been in the ATC craze that so many others enjoy. However, one of the DTs that I'm on decided to exchange ATCs with each other once a month. We make/send one and get one in return. If you missed my first two, click HERE to see the first, and HERE to see the second.
Well, this is the third one I made... still pretty simple, but it's my ATC style, I guess...
The theme was to make your own embellishment... so I attempted to make a flower out of organdy ribbon with a big sparkly brad for the center.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

I {heart} Brentwood
Hoot! Hoot! Did you see this? Oh! Isn't that just too exciting!
I'm on the JessicaLynnOriginal design team, which means I get to play with - ummmmmmmm...I mean, PROMOTE... the cutest stamps! I love Brentwood the owl. So I grabbed up this freebie image and made a card to celebrate.
I paper-pieced his shirt, but there really are so many fun things you can do with Brentwood's shirt. I've envisioned "custom" shirts that promoted Brentwood's favorite sports team, band, etc. Or perhaps a Christian-themed t-shirt. Or a t-shirt that came from somewhere Brentwood traveled. The ideas are endless!
Here's the inside of my card:
If you want to grab this "free!!!" Brentwood image, you better hurry. My understanding is that the freebie is only available for the month of August - and as you know, August is almost history.

The Sky Is the Limit!
Today is going to be a punchy day... because it's the 28th and the Calendar Girls have been given a "punchy" theme for our monthly challenge.
Paola is Miss August and here are her instructions to the Calendar Girls:
For the month of August, I would like to challenge everyone
to embrace the PUNCH ART technique...yup, dust off your punches Ladies! Please
feel free to use a stamped sentiment of your choice, but the main focus is
being creative, using punches .
THANK YOU for a great theme, Paola!!!
What did I decide to make?
A punch art airplane!
I actually like this little plane because it reminds me of my daughter who moved to Alaska about a month ago and has had the opportunity to fly in little bush planes a couple of times. She is quite the adventurer!
Here's the inside of my card:
I hope you'll check out the other Calendar Girl blogs to see what they made with punches. You'll find the links to their blogs in my left sidebar.
Oh, and look at these cards that we made at a card class I attended a week ago (all three used punches)...

Yee Haw, Cowgirl!
I used my favorite There She Goes stamp set for today's card - Giddy Up! (Alas, the company has gone out of business, but I do have a few TSG stamp sets to play with).
Isn't she just adorable?
(BTW, there's an equally adorable cowboy in the stamp set)
I made this card for the Sweet Stampin Challenge...

Are You Ready?
It's time to head....
We live less than a block from an elementary school... so even though my children are grown, I have many opportunities to watch the back to school activity.
Children walking by with backpacks hanging from a shoulder; school buses turning into the school parking lot; I can even hear the bells ringing when it's time for the school day to start.
So, I think the new challenge at MelonHeadz Friends is PERFECT!
August 18 - 31
Theme: Back to School
I actually made two cards for this challenge, using two different sets from MelonHeadz Illustrating.

Dueling Friends
Today is the 15th, so it's time for a little duel... Dueling Darling style.
This month the hostesses are Melina (Dazzlers) and Carol (Divas). They chose a marvelous theme...
Friends Are the Family You Pick Yourself
Seems to me that is a VERY appropriate theme for this month, since this marks the 4-year anniversary of the Dueling Darlings, a group of friends who certainly "picked" each other.
THANK YOU Melina & Carol! We ♥ you!
Here are the details of the kit that Melina sent the Dazzlers:
Image: Whimsy Stamps "I Will Carry You"
Paper: Recollections & Sassafras
Ribbon: Michael's
Buttons: My Favorite Things
Pearls and Brads: from my stash
I cut the clouds and embossed them with my Cricut & Big Shot.

I had such fun with Melina's kit and I can't wait to see what the other Dazzlers did with it.
Let's go take a peek...
Let's check out the Diva's blogs to see what they did with Carol's kit, too:

The only item I used that wasn't in Melina's kit was a piece of Stampin' UP! cardstock for my cardbase.

Rolling Along
Today is a special day. It's time for a new Sweet Stampin' Challenge... and it's also the 9th of August, which means it's the day that the Carriers of Faith Blog group post the monthly project. I decided to make one card that fits both. (Lazy? Not really... I've just been super busy the past couple of weeks and trying to catch up.)
Here's my card:
Biking Riley is so cute!
August 9 - 15
Challenge Theme: Photo Inspiration
Sponsor: The Hobby Horse
I hope you'll participate in the Sweet Stampin' Challenge!
Here's the inside of my card:
The Carriers of Faith blog group is hosted this month by April.
Here's the instructions she gave us...
Since we post the day after my wedding anniversary, I would like everyone to make a project based on one of the scriptures read at my wedding:
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.your card doesn't need to be based on a spousal love, and as such, I would love to hear a story of one of your loves!
Now.......... you're probably wondering what this card has to do with that theme. Let me explain.
One of the ways that my husband lives out the traits in the scripture passage that April chose is seen through a bicycle story. No, he's not a cyclist, and truthfully, neither am I. However, I own a bike - an antique bike - and for reasons I can't even really communicate, it is very special to me. I've had this bike longer than my husband and I have been married.
As I said, I don't really ride it, so when my daughter moved to western Kansas, and asked if she could have it, I agreed. My husband hauled it to her. Then when she moved to Mississippi, the bike went with her. Now that she's moved to Alaska, she couldn't keep the bike............. yes, you know what's coming. My husband went to Mississippi to help our daughter with her final packing/moving details.... and he brought my bike home.
He knows it won't be ridden - at least not much. But he also knows it's important to me. So he patiently and lovingly brought my bike home to me.
I'm not sure, but I am guessing he thinks that it's a keeper. ;)
By the way, my husband is a keeper, too.

A World of Good Wishes
Today's card is super simple - but I like it.
Of course, I just HAD to put a rhinestone on Alaska. Speaking of which, today is the day that our daughter gets on a little bush plane and leaves Anchorage to go to her village. Safe travels, Brittney!
