I have two cards for you again today - the One Stitch at a Time Challenge card and the monthly Dueling Darling card..... Oh! This is going to be fun!
"Button It"
Sponsor: Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet
Here's my card:
You know how sometimes you want to try something new/different, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't? Well, this was one of those times. I tried something different... and it did NOT work.
I used the Stitchy image called "Lake Winter" which is a gorgeous detailed image. I wanted to sponge a variety of colors of ink over the entire image to give it a muted look. I did that and truthfully, it does look somewhat better than the photo shows, but it wasn't the best thing to do with the image. I'm just sayin'!
Tip #1: Do NOT sponge ink all over the Lake Winter image. You probably won't get the kind of look you're hoping for.
Here's the inside of my card:
I hope you'll participate in the OSAAT Button It Challenge!

Now, for the interesting part of the Dueling Darling Challenge...
Tip #2: Darlene instructed us to share our "favorite gardening tip" in our blog posts. My FAVORITE gardening tip is this: let my husband do the gardening! (I do NOT like playing in dirt, or soil either.).

How near these both are! I like the sponging effect. Very unique! I think many of us had the same idea with the gardening tips LOL!!
ReplyDeleteOh Jeanette, Your first card is interesting in the fact that you used a different technique. I think your card does look muted. It gives your card a soft and peaceful look. Your Dazzler card is AWESOME.. I really like how you did the card and the inside.....WOW.... Great job on both cards. Have a safe trip...so blessed that we are friends and duelers......
ReplyDeleteGreat card my friend. I especially love the way you used the big flower with the image. I wanted to use that flower on my card and just could not make it work. What a great idea. Love the soft colors you used on the image.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you did not like the way your first card turned out. I think that it has a cool and serene feel about it.
ReplyDeleteYou were so clever in your placement of the flowers on your dueling card. I really like the layers and how it turned out!
Hahaha!!! I thought that may be your gardening tip!! hehehe
ReplyDeleteWell both cards are so great! I like the sponging on the first one. You're much too critical. It looks sort of like evening and mystical.
Great job on the Gardening Duel, too! Love how the papers look with that color card stock! Very pretty. And those squares on the inside - perfect! So sharp looking!
I love both of your cards today Jeanette. I think the first one is so pretty--sponging all over the image WAS a good idea!
ReplyDeleteAnd-the gardening one--great job on that too. I love where you added the flowers and the coloring great--subtle!
AND-A great gardening tip too!
Great cards Darlene - I particularly like how you have finished the inside of the gardening card.
ReplyDeleteMy gardening tip would be to NOT let DH in the garden :-).
Blessings
Maxine
I love the gorgeous image on your first card- the sponging is a fab idea to add color. I am sure it looks easier than it is to apply color to an image like that. And, love your colors on your garden card. Your soft colors are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful card with a great theme (and yes I know you won't touch dirt! lol) Love the two color d/p combos U chose and the soft coloring of the image and how U implemente the leftover on the inside of the card! Well done *J* ♥
ReplyDeleteLoving the cards, great colour combo...I have joined your blog and if you want to join up in mine and enter my fab candy which is sponsored by three lovely artists, feel free to do so...aNNIe

Well, I think you did a fabulous job with the sponging over the image. It kind of gives it a London fog look. Hope you're having a great time on your trip. Maggie - DT Teamie
ReplyDeleteI love how you placed the flower embellishments! :) Great card Jeanette :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great card!! I LOVE how you used the big flower to fill the pot in the image!
ReplyDeleteLove how you used the papers and how you did the inside!
Love it!!
