This is Easter week... and as we reflect on the holiday, it means special church services, family gatherings, and yes, even Easter Egg Hunts.
Oh, and it also means a new Easter Challenge at MelonHeadz Friends...
April 14 - 27
Theme: Easter
Here's the card I made for the challenge:
Here's the inside of my card:
I hope you'll participate in the MelonHeadz Friends Easter Challenge.
I simply MUST tell you about one of my favorite Easter memories, since this is an Easter type of post. It actually happened a few years ago. I was on a mission trip - in the lovely country of Germany. We were there providing childcare for missionary children while their parents were in meetings. Since we were there over the Easter weekend, we had an Easter Egg Hunt for all the children.
There were a lot of children - and a lot of Easter eggs. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough candy to fill all the eggs, but the parents and coordinators said it would be okay. The children would love gathering eggs even if some of the eggs were empty.
On the day of the Easter Egg Hunt volunteers scattered the eggs all over the open field on the hillside. Then the children gathered. They were told to make it fair for all the children, no child should gather more than ten eggs. And then they were off on the hunt.
It was great fun watching the children gather eggs.
After a while I noticed a little girl who was maybe four-years-old. She was walking across the grassy hillside to where several of the parents and I stood. As she drew nearer I could hear her telling her dad, "Too many eggs. Too many eggs! I have too many eggs!"
He lovingly squatted down beside her as the two determined they would simply toss some of her eggs out on the hillside so other children could find them.
That precious little girl gathered eggs out of her bag that day and left them for other children, without shaking them first to see if there was a candy treat inside or not. The coordinators were right. It didn't matter to her if there was candy inside. She just loved gathering eggs.
But she also loved sharing the eggs with others, as was evident on her face with each egg that she placed back on the ground.
Oh, may I learn the lesson that she unknowingly taught that day. I want to be one who shares without concern for myself like that sweet little girl!
