A Peek At My Week

It’s Friday again…time for another Peek at My Week post.

A PEEK AT MY WEEK

1.      What was a highlight of my week?

Spending time with my daughter. I made the 500 mile trip to her house so we could spend four days together during her spring break. We hung out. We laughed. We shopped. We ate at yummy restaurants. We consumed way too many sweets. And we had a blast!

One of the treats we enjoyed was a trip to a local frozen yogurt place. They have a variety of flavors and toppings and you pay by the ounce.

Above the counter is this sign:

My daughter and I decided it would be great fun to go to the register and DEMAND our bananas. “Give me some bananas, now!” We didn’t do it, but we laughed all the way to the car as we practiced our tough guy voices.

2.      What lesson/s did I learn this week?

When an elderly woman sits on the floor in the lobby of the local Post Office, we quickly discover how many postal workers are in the Post Office. Seriously. That happened this week. While I was there mailing my swap, an elderly woman got weak, looked around for a chair and seeing none, chose to sit down on the floor rather than falling down on the floor. Though there is never more than one clerk working our Post Office counter, three postal workers came to the rescue of the elderly woman. That’s good to know.

3.      What did I make this week?

I made muffins and was reminded how much I dislike my oven. UGH! It doesn’t work right. The bottoms were over-baked and the tops weren’t browned a bit. And our stove is less than three years old.

4.      What have I enjoyed doing this week?

I enjoyed watching my husband and a friend plant a new tree in our front yard. We lost several trees in a tornado last fall, including the big oak tree in our front yard. This one won’t provide shade for quite a few years, but it’s supposed to have bright red leaves in the fall.

5.      If I could change one thing about this week, what would it be?

I wouldn’t have procrastinated so long in starting the laundry. My lack of motivation meant the mountain I had to climb was quite tall.

6.      What did I do for this week’s 30-Minute Challenge?
What is a 30-Minute Challenge? It will vary from week to week, but basically, I am going to choose something to do – perhaps it’s an organization task that is calling out to me, or a topic I want to research, or (*gasp!) an exercise I want to try, etc. – and I will set the timer and invest 30 minutes in that challenge.

My great niece sent me a “Flat Stanley” this week. It’s a school project. Her class is tracking all the places Stanley goes and checking to see what he encounters as he travels. So I took 30 minutes one afternoon and took Stanley on a short tour of our town. He wasn’t overly impressed, I’m sure, but he was much too polite to say so. ;)

7.      What are my plans for the upcoming weekend?

I am hoping to have a somewhat relaxing weekend. I want to play with paper/ink.

SCORE TIME: Would I give this week a “thumbs up” or a “thumbs down”?

My goals for the coming week…

1.      I will spend some time in my Cubbyhole organizing things. It’s quite a mess and the weather should be warm enough for me to do that.

2.      I will write an article for our state newsletter.

3.      I will try to get my Bible study plans completed before Friday this week. That way I can “play” while my husband is gone for his conference, instead of needing to study.

Because I’m doing the 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge, I also have a card to post to my blog today. This is #87.

This is the inside of my card:

  1. What a great week you had! Nothing better than family time, and I would have loved to see someone demand bannnas too! Glad the Postal Workers came to the ladies aid. I am not elderly and got sick last summer on the train platform, and people pushed me aside as I was trying to sit on the ground. No help offered. I am not elderly but I was so saddened by that all the way home.

Your card is beautiful and the verse and sentiment so perfect and meaningful. Enjoy the weekend.

I am so glad you were able to go hang out with your dd during her spring break...♥

  4. What great fun you and your daughter must have had :-)!! Love those times, although now DD is a Mum with pre-schoolers we can't do those things quite the same, but we usually make time for a coffee at some point.
Love that card Jeanette - the lovely rich colours and the truth of the words!

  7. The muffin dilemma may be the pan which you use (unless of course they used to bake nicely!)...I have struggled for years with burnt bottoms and unfinished tops until I purchased this pan (gulp at the price but I got mine at a Mennonite grocery store for $17 and thought it was a horrible price!) https://www.nordicware.com/store/product_detail/12-cavity-muffin-pan-with-lid#.UzGB8fldWSo

I bought 2 and am thankful I did...maybe you could put them on your birthday list! Also have the cookie sheets and cake pan...
