One of the things that I really like doing is thinking outside of the box. I get bored with the "same old, same old" all of the time. So a few years ago I started what I called Treasure Hunt posts here on my blog.
Treasure Hunting is a hobby of mine - I love going to yard sales, thrift stores, and junk stores. You just never know what you'll find. So in my searching, I decided to also stretch my cardmaking. The idea is to find something - priced CHEAP - that is not originally intended for cardmaking and buy it. Then I find a way to use that item on a card. FUN times!
I used to regularly post these to my blog, but I've gotten lax about doing that. I want that to change... since they really are fun!
This week's item was found at the CDC New 2 U Thrift store here in my town. It's my favorite local thrift store, partly because it benefits the place where my son works and partly because I enjoy interacting with the many disabled people who work there.
So, what did I find?
A whole bag of goodies!

This is usually more money than I'm willing to pay for one of my "treasures" but this gallon size ziplock bag was FULL of all kinds of fun items - sequins, sequins, and more sequins; several iron on appliques; a zipper; buckles; seed beads; and so much more. I couldn't resist buying it!
What did I decide to use from the bag of treasures? I used some holly iron on appliques (although I didn't iron them on; I used glue) and some sequins on my card.

Great head start on those Christmas cards and this one is very pretty. I like the papers and diagonal cut plus those fab holly leaves and your sequin find!

I do the very same thing and glad to see someone else doing this. In fact, the other day I took apart an old computer keyboard for the keys. They look like scrabble tiles to me... Your cards are always wonderful!
