A Peek At My Week: New & Improved

As you may recall, for a while last year I did a weekly post (on Sundays) called A Peek at My Week. I actually enjoyed doing these, as they allowed me to reflect on the things that I’d done that week and also plan for the upcoming week. If you’re interested in seeing/reading any of those posts, click here.

Life got hectic and I stopped doing A Peek at My Week posts for a few months, but I’m ready to revamp and start them again. However, I will no longer be able to post these on my blog on Sundays (you’ll hear more about that this Sunday) so they will now show up on Fridays instead.

You may notice a few other changes with my weekly A Peek at My Week posts, too, but remember, “Change is good!”

A PEEK AT MY WEEK

1.      What was a highlight of my week?

As you probably know, my husband returned home from a ten day trip to Israel late last week. Since he'd been up for 66 hours by the time we got back together, he was much too exhausted to tell me very much about his trip. But this week, he's been more rested and I've heard so many tales and seen pictures, too. His trip was incredible, and as I've told him, I'm enjoying living it vicariously through him.

2.      What lesson/s did I learn this week?

When you’re tired, just go to bed. LOL! I seem to be exhausted this week; I’m not sure why. Therefore, I’ve found myself heading to bed earlier than usual. In fact, on Tuesday night, I went to bed at 9:30… and didn’t even get a chapter read in my book before I fell asleep. I know, because I woke at 1:30 – with the light still on and my Kindle quietly sleeping beside me.

3.      What did I make this week?

I’m keeping up with the 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge and therefore have made a card for each day this week. In fact, I made one for today, too. I’ll show it to you at the end of this blog post. I love this challenge because it gives me the excuse to get creative every day.

4.      What have I enjoyed doing this week?

I enjoyed getting some new organization done for my blog… things like the plan for my Thematically Thursday posts that I told you about yesterday. I really like having things neat and orderly, so this brought me a lot of joy.

5.      If I could change one thing about this week, what would it be?

I would complain less about the weather! You've heard me... I have grumbled and complained and said how ready I am for summer. But there is BEAUTY in EVERY season and I should appreciate that instead of wishing for something different. My new motto: No more complaining about winter!

6.      What did I do for this week’s 30-Minute Challenge?
What is a 30-Minute Challenge? It will vary from week to week, but basically, I am going to choose something to do – perhaps it’s an organization task that is calling out to me, or a topic I want to research, or (*gasp!) an exercise I want to try, etc. – and I will set the timer and invest 30 minutes in that challenge.

I didn’t take a before/after picture (I should have!) but my desk was QUITE A MESS! I could barely see the top of it. And it was getting to me. So I set the timer and got to work. I now have a neat desk, which makes me very happy.

7.      What are my plans for the upcoming weekend?

I am excited about this weekend for a variety of reasons. On Saturday, our church is hosting a women's  conference. I know it's going to be great. The topic is "Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall. Who is This Woman? The Woman in the Mirror: Embracing Our Identity in Christ." And Sunday will be a great day, too. We'll be celebrating the Lord's Supper at our church (we only do that quarterly) and my pastor/husband has a unique plan for this service. I'm really looking forward to it. I don't want to spill the beans in case someone from our congregation should happen to see my blog post before Sunday, so I'll tell you more about this next week. Oh, and I'm also excited because I have BIG news to share on my blog this weekend!

SCORE TIME: Would I give this week a “thumbs up” or a “thumbs down”?

My goals for the coming week…

1.      It is supposed to warm up a bit early in the week, so I will spend some time working on organizing in my Cubbyhole. Things have become quite a mess out there this winter.

2.      I am supposed to read the book Our Iceberg Is Melting before attending a leadership retreat the end of this month, so I will read it this coming week.

3.      I have been asked to make some cards for our state women's mission organization, so I will work on those this week.

Now, as I promised earlier in this blog post, here is the card that I made for today for the 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge...

It doesn't show up well, but I stamped the image onto a subtle designer paper.

This is the inside of my card:

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I’d love to hear what’s been happening in your life this week, too, so feel free to leave me a comment and tell me about it.

  1. I just love your stamp. How wonderful. And I like the insides of your cards so much! I swear, they could be cards by themselves. Lovely.

  2. Jeanette, I love the concept of this post and will look forward to learning more about you and hearing how your week has been on Fridays! This weekend is a busy one for us at our church. We're doing a fundraising Valentine's Spaghetti Supper to raise funds for our local chapter of Cancer Care. We baked, chopped lettuce, browned hamburger, etc. yesterday and prepared all the tables. It will be another busy day today...but God willing hopefully a very successful outreach to our community tonight! Have a great weekend!
    Hugs,
    Tracey
