Where In the World?

Today being the 15th, it's time for the Dueling Darlings to share this month's projects. For those of you who have no clue who/what the Dueling Darlings are, we are a group of crafters who have a monthly duel, of the paper-crafting sort. Each month the two groups (Divas and Dazzlers) have a hostess. The two hostesses choose a theme together and then quietly (it's a secret!) put together card kits which they send to their group members. On the 15th, we show what we've made.

This month the hostesses are Diva Kadie and Dazzler April. Their theme is...

Globetrotting and Getting Down
to Your Roots

Here are the instructions April sent with the Dazzler Kit:

For September we decided that since there are so many cute stamps out right now with different country themes, that we would travel the globe and celebrate culture! Please find enclosed in your kit, a stamp that represents a certain country and papers and embellishments to match this travel theme. Feel free to make this month's challenge your own in any way. Whether it be with a sentiment or embellishment that reflects your own heritage or just by sharing with us in your post what your heritage is and what traditions you have in your family that celebrate those origins.

Looking forward to seeing your creations!
Kadie and April

To tell the truth friends, I loved the heritage and tradition theme and chose to send generic people that you can customize! I hope you don't mind!

I kept the accessories in black and white theme so they can coordinate with your design!

The stamps are from two sets from CTMH:
Family Ties - Adult
Family Ties - Children

The embellishments are from Michael's.

Soooooooooooooo... here's the deal. I am what my parents referred to as All-American. Our heritage is sort of ambiguous (your guess is as good as mine). I know I have some native American in my blood as well as Norwegian, Hispanic, and some other nationalities, too. I also have some Outlaw in me. ;) (Jesse James was a distant cousin.)

Since I can't really celebrate what I don't know,  I kept my card generic (retained April's black/white theme) and  included a fun "world-themed" sentiment inside - Penny Black's Good Wishes.

This is the inside of my card:

Let's go over to the Dueling Darling blogs and see what the others have made...

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

The only things I used on my card besides what April included in the kit were cardstock (Recollections Black and Staples white), Copic Markers, the Penny Black sentiment stamp (Good Wishes), and Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Super cute card, Jeanette! I love your take on the theme and your description of your heritage. I would never have taken you for an outlaw :) Great sentiment too! Hugs to you, my friend.

Well now, this is a dapper businessman, ready for a day at the office. And the card is snappy and smart looking, all trimmed in black & white! Great job, the sentiment on the inside is perfect also!

Jeanette--first, knowing you have a bit of outlaw in you explains quite a bit.......... I think your card is so cute--love the black and white theme. I think the sentiment is just perfect!

Wonderful card, Jeanette! Love how you took the theme and created this marvelous black and white card. The simplicity of those panels, image and just right embellishments is so perfect. So beautiful inside and out!!

I really like the layered panels and how they look on the card. It makes your image really stand out.

I think a mix is good! You get to claim a wee bit of everything and when you are 'bad' you can blame it on, Jesse!
