Say Cheesecake!

Today is the 15th so it's time for a new Dueling Darling post. If you are a regular to my blog, you know all about the Dueling Darlings. We are comprised of two groups and each month a hostess from each group gets their heads together (so to speak) and come up with a theme for the duel. Then the hostesses put together card kits and mail them off to their team members, without telling the other team/hostess what the kit is. On the 15th the two teams post their creations on their blogs and we all ooh and ahh over them.

This month it was Kelly and my turn to serve as hostess. Woo Hoo!!! I love hostessing... and I love the anticipation of seeing what each Dueling Darling does with the kits.

Here's the informtion we sent to the Darlings (Kelly to the Divas and me to the Dazzlers)...

Since May is traditionally the month of celebrating Mother's Day, Holy Communions and Confirmations, graduations, and so much more, we thought we'd take this time to celebrate those moments that mean so much! Your theme this month is:

Making Memories,
Celebrating Moments!

We hope you love this theme as much as we do as one thing is for sure: We are celebrating knowing each of you!

In addition to your card, on blog post day please share with us a past memory or current moment that is happening in your life that means so much to you!

When I thought of the theme and looked at the many stamps in my stash, one particular stamp set seemed to jump out at me... Art Impressions Picture Perfect. I wasn't sure the Dazzlers would understand my choice, so I added this note to their kits:

Now, Dazzlers, lest you think I've lost my mind and can't figure out why on earth I chose this iamge for the theme Making Memories, Celebrating Moments, let me explain. When I think of making memories, I think of Kodak moments... so those moments can be celebrated againa nd again as we look at the pictures and remember.

'Nuff said, here's my card:

Here's a closeup so you can get a better view of the fun image:

The film stip is actually a piece of washi tape and the oversize camera in the lower right corner is a puffy plastic embellishment (Me & My Big Ideas Mambi Stick Camera).

Here's the inside of my card:

This was such fun... I can't wait to see what the other Dazzlers did with the kit I sent.

By the way, here's what was in my kit (with the items I used in red ink):

Image/Sentiment: Art Impressions Picture Perfect Set stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Staples 110# White Cardstock.

Designer Papers: Little Yellow Bicycle Escape (small camera), Hampton Art Flashback Viewfinder (large camera), and Hampton Art Flashback Timeline (stripe).

Embellishments: Kathy Davis Designs Adhesive Pearls, KI Memories Rhinestones, Me & My Big Ideas Mambi Stick Camera, Michael's Ribbon, Michael's Ribbon Paper Clips, Recollections Photo Frame, Recollections Waship Tape (3 different designs, I used 1), and a clear adhesive circle from an unknown vendor.

The only thing I added to the kit for my own use was Recollections Black Cardstock and Stampin' UP! Pumpkin Pie Cardstock.

As you remember, we are supposed to share a memory - old or new - of something that means a lot to us. That is easy for me! This past weekend I had the honor of attending my niece's college graduation. I am so proud of her! My niece is a single mom, raising an adorable 6-year-old daughter while working fulltime, yet she found the time to complete the college degree she has been working on for the past 7 years. As we sat in the stadium, waiting for an hour for the graduation to begin, we chatted and enjoyed hanging out - my parents, my sister (the mother of the graduate), my great niece (the daughter of the graduate) and myself. To entertain herself, my great niece Ali took my cell phone and played some games and took some pictures.

Here is a picture Ali took of me:

Please don't blame Ali for this horrible picture! It was the subject matter that she had to work with - and she did the very best she could! (BTW, I think it's uncanny how much my mom -  in the background - looks like my sister. YIKES! When did that happen???)

And here's a picture I took of Ali:

I asked Ali to make a silly face so she did. ;)

Okay, I'm going to head over to the other Dueling Darling blogs now to see what they made. I hope you will, too, and when you do, please leave them a little love.

  3. Wow, Jeanette!! Your creations are always a delight, but your coloring on this image is fantastic! I love the skin tones and slight blush to their cheeks, that;s hard to do!

The puffy camera embellishment is so great! I also love your choice of the Pumpkin Pie CS, it really sets off everything else!

Thanking you (in advance) for sending us such a fun and celebratory kit! I can't wait to get home and create with it.

The pics of you and Ali are precious. I'm so glad that you were able to celebrate your niece's graduation with her! A great memory to treasure.

  5. Before I comment on the outstanding card you made, I have to tell you that I do "think you are losing your mind" as you stated in your post, but I have thought that for a long time and it is good that you too are recognizing it...........

But--your card is a hoot! I love the image and I think it is perfect for the theme. I really like how you added all of the elements and the inside of your card is perfect.

I really like that you shared the pictures of the graduation--and we got to see a glimpse of your mom. Your grand-niece is a hoot--guess she too is related!

Hugs to you and all that has happened in the past 10 days and extra hugs for all the prep you re doing in the next two weeks!

You truly are wonder woman and such a her(oine ) in my mind! (no additional comments needed :-))

  6. OK--so I am not sure that my comment was published--so you might see it again--and AGAIN--No Comment!

First, I did have to say that I read "lest you think I lost my mind" and I had to 100% agree and that it is so good that you are finally recognizing what many of us have come to know in the past.....

Then--there is the outstanding card. I love that image and I think it is perfect for your theme. I like how you added the embellishments and the inside of the card is perfect!

Thanks for sharing the pictures of the graduation--I know that was a special event for you. Great picture of you and it is good to see a glimpse of your mom. Sweet picture of your grand-niece too--she seems to be a hoot and fits right in with the rest of the family.

Hugs to you and all you have had happen in the past 10 days and extra special hugs for you and all that you need to accomplish in the next 2 weeks. You truly are Wonder-Woman and my hero(ine) ;-) yes, I did say that!
