For this month's duel (Dueling Darling style) our hostesses Tami and Darlene decided to give us floral kits to work with.
I must tell you, I was sooooooo excited when I got the kit from Darlene. It was absolutely amazing all the stuff she sent us! WOW!!! And so many gorgeous things to play with must have been my downfall, because I'm not one bit happy with my card. (Alas, it looked much better in my head.)
THANK YOU FOR A FABULOUS KIT, DARLENE!!!
Here's a listing of the things she sent:
Image: SU's Sweet Seasons (2004)
stamped with Tuxedo Black on Conqueror Diamond White CS
Papers: SEI's Field Notes pack
Doilies from my local supermarket!
Bakers twine from Can You Digi It?
Glitter brads from SU
Dragonfly Brad from Creative Impressions
Fabric Alpha Tabs from Letter Press
Adhesive gems from K & Company
assorted banner etc. labels from Martha Stewart
Green leaf tags: unknown
non adhesive little gemstones by Paper Studio
Mini clothespins from A Muse Studios
lacey ribbon from local sewing store
As soon as I got Darlene's kit and saw the piece of lacy ribbon, I knew I wanted to gather it up and make a flower. It just begged me to do that! ;)
I decided to go with an artistic approach with the image and just color the little girl, leaving the rest of the image uncolored. Now, looking at the finished card, it just looks unfinished to me... so guess I shouldn't have done that after all. LOL!
Okay, all I can say is, I'll try to do a better job next month. (I'm sorry, Darlene!)
Darlene and Tami, thank you for being such great hostesses this month!!!
Let's go check out what the other Dueling Darlings made...

Jeanette--I really, really, REALLY like your card today. It is artistic and that works well for the image. And--that ribbon is gorgeous and is perfect made into a flower!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad we are both members of this wonderful group of ladies!
I love the trim flower you made! We both colored her outfit pink and used the same paper on our card from the kit with the doily. Great minds, great minds :)
ReplyDeleteI love your card. I think the ribbon flower is awesome.
ReplyDeleteThat begging ribbon flower turned out great! I really like the lightness and texture it provides.
ReplyDeleteThe colors and vintage feel of your card is really nice.
Great duel this month, my friend.
Truly lovely card, Jeanette! I don't know why you're so unhappy with it! I really love the design with the image in an oval panel with just one element colored and how you used the lovely soft designer paper, the lacey ribbon flower and doily along with the little dragonfly and pearl embellishments to create the feel of a lovely spring day! Perfect!!
ReplyDeleteAww Jeanette don't be so hard on yourself - this is sweet just as it is!! Love that gathered ribbon, it's fabulous.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine

ReplyDeleteHmmm. Why do you think unfinished. I tried to go artistic where you succeeded! This is a beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteVery nice take on the challenge Jeanette....your immies leaves room to the imagination and interpretation of the viewer...don't knock yourself off!! I especially love how wonderfully creative your lacey 'flower' is....great inspiration! ♥
ReplyDeleteLove what you did with the lacey ribbon! That flower is pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove the way you colored the image and focused on the little girl.
So glad you are a Dazzler!
Aw, what a lovely card indeed - very intriquing flower! I think if anyone could make it work, you certainly could!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic in every way!
So happy that you are BLOOMING this month with the DDD! xoxo
Oh Jeanette, you are way to hard on yourself...this is a lovely card and I really like the lacy flower...I agree the ribbon is so beautiful it had to become a flower...:). I love the layout and the dsp you used as well...great job my friend...♥
ReplyDeleteWhat's to be sorry about, my dear?! Not a single thing that I can see!! You showcased that beautiful DP wonderfully and I like how the image looks, accenting the little girl with soft colors. That's just great!
ReplyDeleteThe lace flower is GORGEOUS!! I also like the interesting way that you incorporated the doily on the side corner like that. An inspired card!
I'm so gad that you had fun with the kit this month!
