Now, those of you who hang around much on SCS... you KNOW that Barb and I tease each other a lot. (It's all BARB's fault, by the way!) In fact, yesterday, she kept trying to tell me I had to be nice to her all month, since this is HER month with the Crafty Gals. Yeah, right! Like that's going to happen. Instead, I told her I would be nice for just a few moments on my blog on the 5th.
So here it is: my BE NICE TO BARB post.......
I actually had so much fun snooping around on Barb's blog. I do check it out often, but this time I was in search of something to inspire me, so I looked at details I might otherwise have missed. Here are some things I discovered:
DISCOVERY #1: Barb is a master at creating cards that have a sentiment, quote, or verse, but no image. It's amazing. Take a look at just a few of the posts I found...
DISCOVERY #2: Barb uses the color pink quite a bit in her creations...
DISCOVERY #3: Barb loves DP about as much as I do, often using at least 2 different designer papers on a card...
Keeping those three discoveries in mind, I went in search of ONE card of Barb's that would be my inspiration. Here's Barb's card that caught my eye...
Here's the card I created:
Obviously, I rotated my card to a vertical one rather than the horizontal one that I CASE'd. The reason I did that is because the quote I wanted to use was too "tall" to fit otherwise. I really wanted to use this quote because it, too, reminds me so much of Barb.
Barb is retired, after having served many MANY years as the Athletic Director in the public school system. (Did I mention she's older than dirt? Oops! Sorry, Barb... I'm supposed to be nice, aren't I?). Now that she's retired, she has the time to travel, to shop, and to enjoy the many friendships that she's developed over the years. She is often taking a trip, or spending the day shopping with friends, or hosting gatherings at her home. She IS living every day to the fullest!
Here's the inside of my card:
Barb, thank you for being such a joy to me! And for inspiring me, too! I hope you like my card, as well as most of the things I've said here in my blog post. Now....... get back over to SCS, my RAZZ'ing buddy...... so I can quit being nice to you. :/
This is my 109th card in the 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge. Today is the 95th day of the year.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Please head over to the other Crafty Gals blogs to see what they created, too. You'll find the links to their blogs in my left sidebar. Be sure to go to Barb's blog, too... and when you do, would you please remind her that I was nice to her on my blog. Thanks!

Your card is a perfect tribute to Barb, but I don't know, there was an awful lot of razzing in your text. ;o)<--That is supposed to be a wink
I love how you posted all sorts of fun facts about Barb, in your story of picking a card to CASE
I also love your colors and dp choices. So bright and cheery and fun!
WTG Jeanette with a beautiful post about Barb! The true meaning shines despite (because) of the additional razzing...maybe you were sisters in another life?)
Te card is grand ~ love that sentiment!! {And fits Barb to a T.}

I love that you did so much research on Barb's style. You are so sweet. (see you can do it) :)

HUGS :)
WOW--your post is wonderful--no-really it is!
It was fun to see all of the highlights that you posted--and I did not realize that I used pink as much as you noted. I was "almost" in tears until I read the last paragraph in your post!
Thanks for all of the wonderful comments and I am so excited to be "hosting a gathering" for some of my SCS friends in a few weeks and am 100% sure you will be there!
Thanks for being a great friend---now back to the razzing...........
After all of the gushing comments I just made--I forgot to tell you how much I loved the card you created. I really love that sentiment and the papers sure are pretty. Thanks!
