January Duel

The 15th is here... that means it's time to DUEL!

The Dueling Darlings have been together for over two years  now; can you believe it? Every month, two of the members serve as hostesses and come up with a theme for the month's duel. Then each hostess secretly selects items for the kits and mails them to her team members. On the 15th we reveal our creations and see what  the duel is all about.

This month the hostesses are Terry (Dazzlers) and LJ (Divas). I'm a Dazzler......... and wow'ie!!! I was sure excited when I saw the theme and the fabulous kit that Terry sent!!!

It's.............

Book Blitz Month!

We are celebrating with a reading-themed kit. How fun!!!

In the kit that Terry sent we found the MFT Who's That Girl "Well Read" image, Baic Grey "Study Hall" ddesigner paper, DCWV Brown fancy cardstock, Fancy Pants "Frigiid" designer paper, CTMH Baker's Twine, Dress It Up "Lon Stars" buttons, Mark Richards Nailheads Metal Stickers, and brown ribbon. There was so much stuff in there that I couldn't use it all. THANK YOU, Terry!

Here's my card:

I even did just a wee bit inside...

That was the easy part of the Duel. The difficult thing is.... Terry has asked us to share our favoirte author or our favorite book and to tell why it's our favorite. I've thought and thought and thought about this... and I don't want to offend anyone with my answer, but truthfully, my favorite book is the Bible. I read it daily. I learn from it. It guides me in my life. It is interesting, enlighteing, and enjoyable to read. I'm pretty sure that wasn't the kind of book Terry and LJ were thinking about, but it's the answer I'm giving.

Now, be sure to go to the other Dueling Darling blogs to see what they've created.... as well as what they like to read. ;)

  1. Ha! The Bible was my first thought as well! I love your card and especially how you used the nailheads on the sofa-brilliant! The inside is finished off well, leaving loads of room to write a note. Love those star buttons too! Great job on this round, Jeanette.

  2. Outstanding! The Bible is of course, the greatest book ever written - I've just ordered a chronological Bible to read for this year. Love your image, your colors and all the wonderful details!

I want to curl with up in the comfy couch and pick up a book too. Love the colors you used and the stars are sweet!

  6. WOW!WOW!WOW! What an amazing collection of beautifully created cards, Jeanette! Each starts with a terrifc design, moves on with perfectly coordinated papers, beautifully colored images and framed sentiments and topped off with the perfect touch of embellishments. In particular I love the metal embellishments on the couch of the perfect image to go along with the Dueling Darling theme of reading. Great job, my friend.
And friends whose hearts and minds in synchronization chose the same favorite read, the Holy Bible, delighted me!

  7. Love your card Jeanette -The brads on the ends of the arms of the couch are an inspired touch! The dp is suggestive of a library with the strips, looking like book spines on a shelf.
I would be like that a lot if I had the time - nose in a book, but like you, especially the Bible.
    Blessings
