Then we moved. That was 1 1/2 years ago. And I never seemed to get back to the Treasure Hunt posts, even though I still have a box of treasures just waiting for use.
So I decided this year one of my goals would be to post a Treasure Hunt Creation at least once each month.
Today is the day!
Here's what I found:
A calendar - Cost 10 cents
This is what the pages look like:
I figured this could actually be useful on SEVERAL cards, but for today, there's only one.
I took one of the pages and trimmed it so the quote showed, but not the actual calendar.
Aerodynamically
the bumblebee shouldn't
be able to fly,
but the bumblebee
doesn't know that
so it goes on flying anyway.
- Mary Kay Ash
I chose to use this quote from the calendar for two reasons: 1.) I was familiar with this quote - I can remember my sister saying this many MANY times when we were growing up; and 2.) I had an idea to make a punch art bumblebee to go with it.
I guess you had already figured out the bumblebee was made solely with punches. This idea isn't original. I've actually seen several variations of this on the internet, so I just pulled out some punches and started playing. The punches I ended up using are mostly from Stampin' UP!:
Bird Punch
Ornament Punch
Large Oval
1 3/8" Circle
7/8" Circle (this one was not Stampin' UP!)
3/4" Circle
Circle from Itty Bitty Shapes Pack
Here's a closeup so you can see him better:
Isn't he sweet?
Of course I had to do the inside - Amazing:
I only used things I had for this card; no purchasing - so it counts as my Card #6 for the 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge.
I sure had fun making this card... I love Punch Art, I love Treasure Hunts, and I'm loving the 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge, too.
Thanks for stopping by!

I love the idea of the treasure hunt and am going to incorporate it into my card making this year! And your little bee is so adorable!!!! What a sweet card!!
ReplyDeleteI just love that card. I've always really enjoyed that quote. I'd never heard of that idea for a treasure hunt card. I usually find it works the other way for me. DH brings me something home and proudly tells me he's saved this for my crafting and then I'm challenged to use it because it makes him so happy that he's supporting me.
ReplyDeleteThat punched bee is so cool! I love your idea of treasure hunt fun- only, I have such bad allergies, I am afraid to buy such 'treasures'. I look forward to seeing what else you have found to alter!
ReplyDeleteAdorable card! Great use of the calendar. The pink papers set off the bee. I love his wings!
