Sail Away with Me

This is an exciting day... and an exciting post!

1. It's the 28th, so the card I'm going to show you is a Calendar Girl Challenge card. Deb is the hostess this month, and just wait until you hear what she challenged us to do.

2. This is Tuesday, so the card I'm going to show you is a Twisted Tuesday Challenge card. The theme this week (and the twist) is such fun!

3. If that's not enough... I also have BIG news to share with you about Twisted Tuesday Challenges.

Soooooooooooooo... let's get started.

First... Calendar Girls. Here's Deb's Challenge...

Calendar Girls Olympics!

Since the Summer Olympics are now going on, I decided the theme for this month would be our very own Calendar Girls Olympic challenge. There are two parts to this month’s theme:

1. The colors of the rings on the Olympic flag are: blue, yellow, black, green and red. Your card must have at least one embellishment and it must be in one of those colors.

2. Please make a card based on one of the Olympic events. The events in this summer’s Olympics are: Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Canoeing, Cycling, Diving, Equestrian, Fencing, Soccer, Gymnastics, Handball, Judo, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Track and Field, Trampoline, Volleyball, Water Polo, Weightlifting, and Wrestling.

So, here are some examples…I have a stamp of a women jogging, making a card with this stamp, my card represents the Track and Field Event. That one is pretty obvious.

But in case you think you don’t have a stamp that you can use to make a card…look again, and this time, think outside of the box. That means…you may have a horse stamp, a card with that image represents the Equestrian event. You have Bikini Sophie, she could either be representing the Swimming event or perhaps she is waiting for her Beach Volleyball event to start. You have a sporting set so you use the basketball, your card is representing Basketball. You have sailboat image, your card is representing the Sailing event. You get the idea!!!

Or you have those cute Riley Travel Sticker stamps. So your card is going to represent the Olympic Opening Ceremony representing the USA, or Australia, etc. Or make a card representing the host country, Great Britain.

And lastly, when posting to your blog, please let us know what your card represents about the Olympics.

Please get creative with what you have. Use die cuts, stickers, stamps, whatever you have. I do not want anyone to have to go out and buy something.

Have fun!!!

Looking forward to seeing all your gold medal winning creations!
Deb (Miss August)

I'm not the athletic type, nor are my family members... so I had to search and search for something to use. I finally found a VERY old Stampin' UP! stamp set with a sailboat (so I'm representing the Sailing event).

Now, lest you wonder how this card also fits the Twisted Tuesday Challenge, here are the details for that...

August 28 - September 3

Theme: Cooling Off  (With Autumn just around the corner let's make a "cooler" creation. Wherever your mind takes you with that.)

The Twist: I want to see some inked edges.

As you can see from my card, my idea of cooling off is hanging out on a sailboat.

I love those fish brads so much that I put two more of them inside...

Now, for the THIRD thing I told you I had to put in this blog post... the BIG news! Here it is....

Twisted Tuesday Challenge is having a Design Team Call!!! You really should consider applying. It is such fun being a Twisted Tuesday Design Team Member! The details can be found here.

Okay... I know this blog post is long............ but you really MUST go and check out the other Calendar Girl blogs and see their challenge cards. It's going to be great fun! You can find the links to their blogs in my left sidebar. Enjoy the CALENDAR GIRL OLYMPICS!

And don't forget to play along with this week's Twisted Tuesday Challenge!

  9. Sailing....I love this card! You were very creative with the water. I think you used a circle punch and I will have to remember that!

DH went sailing once with our neighbor on his boat. He said it was really cool, but a lot of work too!

I love that you carried the theme to the interior of the card. Fishy brads rock!
